Thinking of a project and wonder if anyone knows the part # for the newer Backpacker 12" barrel.
I would rather buy one as I have never cut a barrel before and would hate to mess it up.

All I see on their web site is the 2289 in the rifle section. The new backpacker is a 2289G. The number I found is 2289-001.

I have read that some of the members have been ordering the 14" barrel and receiving the new 12" barrel.
We need to keep going and have fun doing it.

Thanks MD.  I'll give them a call tomorrow.  Might get lucky.

It would not surprise me in the least if you get a 12" barrel with that part# because the new backpackers come with a 12" barrel.  I think they should use a new part number for the new barrel, but whether they are (or will) or not is anyone's guess.
I wanted a 14.5" barrel to put on my new backpacker so I would have one the same length as the original.  I ordered one using the part # for a 2250 barrel (2250-019) and I got one that is 14-9/16" long and has a dimple for the upper barrel band setscrew at approximately 7-7/8" from the muzzle and 6-11/16" from the breech end.  It will show when I install it on my backpacker but I don't care.  I also received a 2400KT CCS gun with an identical 14.5" barrel on it and it shoots very accurately out of the box with not even a barrel cleaning.  However, I only have a 5M range in my shed and have not used a benchrest yet.  I hope the backpacker shoots as accurately as the new 2400KT.  As soon as I get some chrono numbers from the 2400, it's coming apart because I ordered it for the parts to use on three other guns I'm building.

That's rite duck,I ordered a 14.5 from crosman and it came in a 12". I called crosman and the guy said they have changed them from 14.5" to 12". I told him that the first part of my order was 14.5" barrels . He sent me the 14.5" barrel and told me to keep the 12" that it was to much trouble to have sent back.

I ordered a 2289-001 last February....cost 10.58 plus 4 for shipping....it was 14.5" and it is a laser my most accurate gun
Maybe you could ask when ordering what barrel length they will provide....

Well I didn't call because the 13xx I was going to put it on was sold.  Did get a couple of 2289s to mess with so I did get a 12" barrel with gun attached.
My son will probably end up with one of them while the other???? Something...
