Hey Guys, anyone know the thread size on the fill cap of a 22xx?  7/8" fine thread, maybe??? I want to make a special cap with a rim on it, maybe from brass.

I was wondering the same thing myself!  I am toying with the notion of a "2250 1/2" for my next build.  For the fore stock I wanted something longer than a 2250 but not as long as a 2260.

I just might have to give it a go, I can always make the piercing rod on my wood lathe and maybe dress up the end cap.  I was also considering making a longer cap for my wife's soon to be ordered CCS 2240KT carbine, she's got hand problems like I do.

when shortening these tubes they have to be honed in order to tap them
how much i dont remember
i had a disco tube shortened thats what had to be done so i assume any tube that size like the 2xxx series has to be done the same way
don cothran and bna offer custom length tubes

You might try Victor Machinery, I know they carry a very wide range of taps and other goodies.  I've ordered most of my taps, tap drills, dies and regular drills from them.  Great prices on most stuff, quick ship times and good folks to deal with.

On one occasion I ordered a 7/16" end mill, they sent a 1/2".  When I called them they told me to keep the 1/2" mill and I got my 7/16" mill in 3 days...they said "no charge" to keep the 1/2".  Good customer service I think.

Just a suggestion, McMaster is proud of their stuff on a lot of things.

Another place to look for your tap is http://www.msdiscount.com the tap is $25 about as cheap as your going to get one you`ll have to order one more thing they want orders over $25 or they charge you $10 extra so pick up another tap you think you`d need like a 4x 48 to chase the breech threads or one of the other taps needed for your guns

Correct. I worked at Crosman and that's the tap they used.
