Drill & Tap Plastic Breech?

Has anyone tried this? I was looking for an easier way (other than buying a steel breech) to align the barrel and breech holes when re-assembling to tube on my 2240. I was thinking a small set screw in the top of the breech would help to hold the barrel in place.

Sure why not. They seem to be pretty soft but I'm thinking as long as you don't tighten the set screw to much it should help. But then again what do I know.

That's what I was thinking. Just to keep aligned until you get the breech screw tightened.

folks have been doing that for awhile around here
it has two functions
one keeps the barrel from rotating
two helps seal the transfer port a little better

Don't over tighten the screws. Not much material any where around the barrel for much firmness, but I guess it couldn't hurt. One way to sure it up a bit would be to install heli-coils, but you would need to custom trim them and then I don't think you would get more than a couple of threads at best.

Seeing how the thickness is what it is i`d go to a NF thread to get more threads like a 8x 36 or 6x40
