I'm planning on getting a Doomsday kit and a 2240 to shoot with my son when I buy him a bb gun for xmas. Since I'm planning on getting 2 .22 pellet guns I thought it made since to convert my 1377 to .22 but I also want a different front sight. So my plan is (tell me if this is wrong) To buy a 2289 barrel, fiber optic front sight, a 1322 steel breech and a 2289 barrel band and screw, LPA mim sight. Is there anything else I need? A flat top piston and valve is something I'm thinking about as well.

That should work.  You will need a bigger oring on your bolt for the .22 unless you get the steel breech and bolt for a .22.

And if you want to go with a little longer barrel, you can get a 2250 barrel (p/n 2250-019)... which is 14.5 inches.

Does the steel breech come with a bolt or it that separate? is the O ring the only difference between the 2 bolts?

bgmcgee

It depends on how you order it. If it is a kit for the .22 then it should come with a bolt.  As far as I know the only difference is the oring size but I could be wrong. There are much more knowledgeable guys here than me.

No, the bolts are a little bit different. Placement of the o-ring groove and style of bolt. .177 is sort of pointy and the .22 bolt is a shortened extended probe style. Each kit comes with the appropriate bolt. Just be sure that if you need a .22 kit that you state .22 and that it is the kit, not just the breech.

.177 on left
.22 on right

You're on the right track mr Grouse...I would get the 2289 bbl, part # 2289-001 $10.58 plus $4 shipping
It is 14.5" long and doesn't have the dimple for the barrel band that would be about 2" beyond the long breech
You may want to get a better bolt...extended or flow thru  :-*

So i got to thinking about keeping it a .177 due to the fact I've been on pellet buying frenzy lately. So what barrel should i get that would be in the 12" range in .177?

I don't know when they changed, my invoice dated 2/18/13 with 2289-001 is a 14.5" barrel and its on this:

Would they change a part and not give it a different number  ??? ???

You may have trouble  using the fiber optic front sight with the LPA  sight. I put one on my 2300 and could not adjust it.I Had to mod the front sight.
I got a new Mark II for my wife and kids... I think it was a pretty good trade.

.177 barrels are not available in 12" from Crosman,  stock 1377 is 10.25" so it would not be much of a difference anyway.  Crosman has an 18" barrel, but you can only buy it if you have bought a Crosman Custom Shop gun. You can get a 24", cut it down and recrown it yourself, there are you tube videos on this process. You can get one in any length you want from some of the aftermarket vendors, but at premium prices.

As a point of reference, I recently picked up a 14 inch .177 barrel for my PC77 from B&A and it ran $35 shipped.
