What to do? Decided what to do

I am putting together a .22 carbine for a friend. 14 inch barrel, steel breech, stuffed piston. But what to do for myself at the same time?

Wondering if I do similar for myself? Or do one for myself in .177. Main use would be small game rabbit down. So either caliber will work.

Help me make up my mind

I already have a 2289 carbine I use, if that helps sway the decision.

In my mind I'm thinking another .22, but not sure. Gotta decide before I call Crosman

I could also use help with part numbers. My notes say:

14.5 inch 22 barrel is 2250-019
18 inch 22 barrel is 2400-002
24 inch 22 barrel is 2260-003

JMO...I find some wisdom in " .22 for fur, .177 for feathers"...not to say .22 doesn't work where feathers are involved.

Would stick with .22 cal for bunnies.

and that is good wisdom. I have hunted successfully a lot with a .177. Still every time I look at how much bigger the .22 pellet is, I feel better. Both work well on bunnies. But .22 is a safe bet for sure.

I have been real happy with .22 w/a 18" barrel. Probably not much difference in FPE between 14" & 18" but every little bit helps.

ordered up some parts. And whipped this up quick . Don't judge...not done yet. Roughed this out late this afternoon. Not even sanded yet. Just ran it through the table saw and then hit the stationary belt sander to rough shape, a little chisel work and the drill press. Down and dirty quick test run.

A scrap of really light mahogany I had around.

Now to see if I have enough of it to make the stock or if I need to pick some up

so I ordered a 14.5 for my friends AG and a 24 for mine. Thinking of trying it 1st after recrowning as a 24 before cutting it down. Anyone running a 24 inch barrel in .22?

Did run a 24" on a pumper "way back when", but over time found it too long for my tastes. Ended up cutting it to 20" and decided I liked it there. Personal choice....a wonderful thing.

Time has marched on and today, my remaining pumpers are in pistol and carbine format....10.5" and 14.5" barrels.

Would at least shoot it before going after the crown. Even if the crown is ugly, this gives you a benchmark of sorts against which to judge the results of your own efforts.
