My Dad bought my 116 at a flea market circa 1970. It came with the bottle, which my Dad got filled at a neighborhood fire extinguisher shop.
I shot it a lot growing up...I would say it gave me the above average skills I have with a handgun today.
Both my parents are long gone, but my siblings and I still own their house full of "stuff". (dont ask).
I had brought home the 116 some time ago, but could not find the cylinder. I remembered that my Dad said he found a second cylinder at a garage sale.
Last week I had occasion to be at the old house, so I started searching. To my surprise, I found them right away, in an unexpected place.
I found the original cylinder, still seeming to be about half full of co2. The second cylinder turned out to be a tire inflator JetPak kit, brand new in the box, empty.
I also found a partial box of Crosman Copperhead 22 pellets...the plastic flip top box, bought at Kmart for $1.97.
Funny thing, there was an empty 221 Fireball case in the pellet box...I remembered I had drilled the primer hole to take a large pistol primer, and used to shoot 22 pellets out of a TC Contender...
So, I get home and pull out the dusty 116. I put some drops of Pellgun oil on the fill valve, and screw on the old tank. I filled the reservoir. Some oil came out the bleed hole, but the gun sealed up.
I cocked it and pulled the trigger a couple times, hearing the loud, satisfying snap of co2.
Let it sit for a day. That night, after work, I shot five pellets at 20ft in my basement to the loud, unsatisfying sound of my wife upstairs yelling "what are you doing down there...stop it"
The next day, the old 116 was still holding gas and shooting fine.
Eventually, I will pick up a paintball tank, as I understand the old tanks can't be refilled anymore...although the second tank looks absolutely new. The box even has the fill station paperwork with it.
I had thought about having the 116 resealed...not sure if it even needs it.
But, it sure is nice seeing my old friend, responsible for many birds in my use, still barks.

Yes, you can still fill your 116. I just found this on Baker Airguns. I'm not sure how it works so you might want to give them a call.

Nice story about a fine old pistol. Keep shooting it until the seals finally give up. Then do a complete re-seal yourself (https://sites.google.com/site/hudsonhw77/home/airguns/crosman-bulk-reseal) or have someone else do the work for you.

I have a 116 or 112 on my radar. I'm hoping to find a worthy candidate for restoration at the North Carolina Airgun Show in October.

Yes, he also wants top dollar for it! Seems to shoot a little weak. I have the 112 on my saved searches on Gunbroker.

I'm not too interested in the device that lets you use 12gm powerlets...but I will get the paintball tank adaptor.
Is there a preferred brand of paintball tank? I'm not familiar with them. I looked on eBay and they seem pretty cheap.
Shooting my 116 makes me feel like looking for one of the old Crosman bulk fill rifles.
