Any Canadians considered buying/bought in the USA to avoid detuned or power restrictions?

Laws or not, that's how it is everywhere in the world. Criminals don't follow gun laws.
The laws only restrict law abiding citizens. Maybe that's just how I feel living in the U.S.

You are not the only one feeling that way for sure Tater, it seems that laws are only made for the law abiding, the non-law abiding could care less...
This Old Dog has outlived most of my enemies!!!
Many of my friends also, sorry to say!!!

So.. based on that RCMP web page, this Crosman is a "prohibited Gun" in Canada, even if it shoots at 500 fps max?  ??? >:(

Come on down to Idaho, I think we actually have a law that REQUIRES you to own guns!  :D ;D

Nope. Totally legal and sold at the local Walmart.

A firearms license (PAL) is easily obtained, and opens the door for not only high velocity air rifles, but many rifles and shotguns as well.  8)

Despite the <500fps limit without such license, there is no fpe limit as in the UK.... a .50 cal air rifle OR air pistol shooting 499fps requires no license here. :) Believe the UK limits are 12fpe for rifles and 6fpe for pistols???

Pistols shooting over 500fps are the kicker (places them in the restricted category of firearms), and the restrictions placed upon them (to stay legal) suck all the fun out of having them (JMO)...keep the pistols <500fps to maximize the fun. :-*

To the OP...get your PAL.

Al from Alberta....the Tejas of the Great White North. ;)

Got a funny one tonight...

I was shooting in a field (just had time to shoot 2 times), lost from civilization by the highway.
I wanted to test my laser sight in the dark.

My parked car taunted a RCMP police patrol.

After been lighted in the face by their flashlights and greeted with a "put your gun down and rise your hands" when one of them saw it was a crosman airgun (1322) he just asked me to put it back in my rug.

Then one told me, you cannot shoot with a firearm.
-but it's a pellet gun, so...?
The other agent said that if I hit someone with a lost pellet, I could get a lawsuit.
- but there was a guy here last time hunting with a crossbow....
- Yes he can....
- really? But I cant?
- if below 495, it's no firearm.

Then I asked them politely :
- so since it's below 495 fps, I could go back shooting if I would like to, right?
- hum, yes, but I could also seize your gun to test if it's legal... was the answer.

All in all, if the airgun is legit, you can shoot where you want but are responsible for your pellets.
And if it's a crossbow, then no worries, it's okay (wtf...) So beware.

There's nothing like having a nice chat with agents of the law.
They were actually very friendly to answer most of my questions.

So why ask in a forum, we got the police right there to provide clear (hum!) answers  ;)

It's not classified as a firearm (assuming <500fps) UNTIL you use it while breaking another law...then you jump in to criminal law where the wording is different....and it IS treated as a firearm.

Be aware of any non-discharge bylaws in your area.

You're right. The policemen told me that too.

Actually, it was pretty instructive to meet them. :-*

But would you believe that you can shoot a crosbow (which could easily kill a man)
But cannot shoot your crosman pump master 760, let's say, which could hurt but never kill....

I sure hope that "Ottawa Incident" from this week doesn't make it worse for you guys up North... the lefties are out in full force on the blog-o-sphere with their usual MO of "not letting a good crisis go to waste" per their mentor and hero Bill Ayers.

Can be taken both ways....a fellow with legal access to a firearm stopped the bad guy.

Lefties can stick it where the sun don't shine. :-*
