Seems like I'm seeing seams........

I have four newer Crosman barrels and they all look to have a seam running down them.  None of them shoot all that well either.  Only the barrel that came with the grey ghost looks to be without the seam.  Anyone else notice this?  I'm ready to order a Lothar Walther barrel for my current 1377 project.
Man, that was close!

Yes, I have noticed & returned the barrel to Crosman.  They had no problem with the exchange.  Mine with the "seam" didn't shoot well either.
LW barrels are $56 or so.  IMHO, and I have nothing to base this on but opinion, a good barrel that has been massaged by Davio, Mellon, Baker, AC Customs will shoot as well @ 10M as an LW barrel.  You may have to find the pellet it likes, while the LW barrel seems to like most pellets but,  @ 10M it's hard to notice a difference.  Especially shooting free hand.  Now if your using a scope & shooting the bench pistol comp you may notice some difference or if your shooting out to 30 yds. there would probably be more difference.
As I said, most of this opinion having shot both LW 10" & after market barrels from Davio & Mellon.

Pm Davio and tell him what you want and don't forget to tell him that you are a forum member.

$30 or so shipped.  Most sellers are in that price range.  Regular Crosman barrels 10" are about $10.

Show us in pictures?  ???

Noah - its just a fine line that runs the entire length of the bore ( across the rifling :().  Like they switched from seamless to seamed tubing for their barrels.  Until they get this fixed I won't be using their barrels I guess.  I'd hate to add a fifth to my collection of lemons.

I need a barrel that shoots well @ 20M.  And I was thinking of ordering a blank directly from LW because a 10" tube is not long enough to make pesting energy.  Too bad Crosman does not offer LW barrels in longer lengths ( 14, 18, 24 ).  They would be quite popular imho.

The Challenger barrel is an LW (CH2009-014).  I Don't remember what it cost nor the exact length.  It is less than 24".

I'll give them a call and get the skinny on that barrel.  I totally overlooked that model.  Wonder if anyone has ordered one for a 2250?  The transfer port and barrel band's part numbers look familiar so maybe it would just drop into a steel breech.

I got one awhile back and there was some lead in smoothing to do to make it fit the Crosman steel breech.  Not much, but some.  Transfer port and all else were the same.

Well the Challenger barrel is $93.39.  Made a large assumption that it is in fact a LW barrel.  Don't mind a hand fit at the breech so it is tight.  Went ahead and ordered it.  Also got a 2250 gas tube, shoulder stock and forearm along with some smaller parts.

Did they (Crosman) mention how long it is?  I hate to mess up my front sight to measure.  Just curious.
