Air gun therapy. I was shooting my Red Rider this after noon and it dawned on me. We all have problems. We have problems at work, we have health problems, kid problems, etc. But, when we pick up our air guns and shoot, the problems go away. All we are trying to do is hit what we are aiming at. All of life's problems go away. This is AIRGUN THERAPY! This is a good thing. All the work you did on that air gun, took your mind off all of your problems. Think about it, it works! :-* :-*
We need to keep going and have fun doing it.

And it works, doesn't it. Shooting, takes your mind off all of life's troubles. Thank you, Brutuz, for this forum. :-*

In 1950 I was 'Ralphie' before J.Shepard wrote the book. I looked like Ralphie, I wore big, thick glasses, that were always breaking. Because I had been very ill for some time my parents could not afford to buy the Red Ryder I wanted for Christmas. However, on Christmas morning there it was unwrapped, in it's colorful cardboard box. My parents insisted it was purchased by a secret donor, and they might tell be who later. I assumed it to be my Uncle Bill & Aunt Jenny who did buy me nice stuff before they started their own family. When I quizzed my Aunt Jenny about it her response was "You'll put you eye out".  So I asked my Aunt Margaret and she said "I'm not getting one of those things for my boys, too dangerous"

What fun my friends and I had with our Daisys. We had Red Ryders, Pump 75's, single tube 350's, and single shots. Hunting sparrows at night under the eaves of sheds and tromping through the woods in search of bigger game. But the English sparrow at maybe 10 yards was about the Red Ryder's limit. I carried that bb gun around for four years and I still cherish the memories.

When my childhood family doctor died in 1979, my mother told me he was the one who bought the Red Ryder. I had no idea and I felt bad because I never liked him much... The words Red Ryder are my therapy.

Great story! Only time I got to shoot an airgun as a kid, was when my older brother and I spent summers with our Grandmother (Dad's Mom) in a small town in southeast Arkansas. Had a Daisy lever action of some description.
