Hi,
I'm wondering what the relative advantages/performance enhancements of an extended bolt versus a "flow though" bolt are.  I've installed a stainless steel extended bolt in my 2240 and it seems to fit very loosely. When cocked and loaded, the bolt handle flops up and down very easily.  That said, it doesn't seem to affect the number of shots I get from a CO2 cartridge so the seal must be OK.  I'd appreciate any thoughts you more experienced airgun shooters have.

Thanks,

Jim

I use the flow-thorough style probe/bolt for consistent positioning of ALL pellet designs forward of the TP.

Hi, Craig;

That seems to be the primary advantage of the flow-through bolt from what I've read here.  Proper seating of bullets when reloading centerfire ammo for competition is essential.  I'd think that the same would be true for seating pellets in the barrel of an airgun would be similar.

Thanks to you and Brutuz for all of the good references.
