Longer Barrel?

This may seem like a dumb question, but here it goes.
Will adding a longer barrel to a 2240 increase the velocity?

Rule of thumb is roughly 10fps per inch of added barrel length.

(Crosman FPS #s)  2240-460 fps.  2260-600fps.  Same internals just difference between a 7" & a 24" barrel.

I have always wondered about the tipping point to where any given longer barrel will decrease power/fps. I cannot recall any data on this but I'm sure it's out there.

There is a thread where charts and graphs were done by Quickster for 1377.
I suspect those numbers would give some idea for the 2240,just my guess.
