Valve Pinning?

I'm getting ready to pin the valve on my 2240. I'm using two 10-32 set screws each 90 degrees from the exhaust port. My question is do I tap the tube as well as the valve, or should the holes in the tube just be body fit?

The reason I'm doing this is the valve is really sloppy in the tube, the hole that the retaining screw goes in is to big to keep the exhaust port lined up with the tube.

Thanks!

I have always drilled & tapped the valve in place.  So the tube was also tapped.  I have used 8-32 screws.
I don't know if 10-32 would make a difference. ???

That is the way the 22XX valves are - loose in the tube.   I built a fixture to hold the valve before pinning work.

I have also made a fixture to hold the alignment of the valve in the tube while drilling it.

How long of a screw did you use?

I followed Wyomans suggestions.   https://www.crosman-air-pistol-owners-forum.com/board/index.php/topic,11149.0.html
I have only pinned a 1300 type valve.  Don't know why a 22xx valve would be different, but... ???
