This is the grouping I'm getting at 20yards off a rest with my new 2240xl,do you think this is acceptable i think it should be better.

Open (iron) sights, I'd be happy with what you shot. I'm shaky even off a sandbag with my crappy eyesight. Scoped or red dot, I'd expect a bit tighter group - should easily be inside a 2" bull at 20 yards from a rest, IMHO. Unless I can blame the wind!  ;)

At 15 yards its just one hole move target out to 20 yards and bad  groups

What kind of sights, red dot or scope.  If scope not so good, red dot maybe, depending on size of dot.  With my older eyes I tend to get some flare with a red dot, so need a smaller size and turn brightness down if possible.  If you are using a red dot you might try a 6 o'clock hold instead of covering the target with the dot and see how that goes.

I don't do pistols much over 10m, so I'm probably not the person to respond. That said, here's my 2 cents: if you're on at 15 yards and shotgun at 20, you may have exceeded the pellet's ability to give you a good group. Try weighing and diameter sizing your pellets to see if any particular sort gives you the group you're looking for at 20 yards. Or just try another pellet. Wadcutters are generally good out to about 12 yards, and then they scatter. Domes are generally good beyond 12 yards. Have fun with it!  :)

Ella today i put one of my 22cal scopes on my 2240 and at 20yards i can keep a quarter size group.now i just have to find a scope made for a pistol the scope on there now is longer than the gun.
