finally got my HDD from AOA yesterday....installed it this morning.....WOW  sure did quiet things down....with the HDD and the LDC this things near the  noise level of my maurader...now I know $26.00 bucks(includes shipping)is way overpriced for a small piece of plastic but I guess u get what u pay for and this is worth the $20.00 IMO...I am out of the 14.3 pellets but shooting my 15.9 JSB's I'm still shooting 530 after 10 shots...not sure yet if it increased my shot count but I'm sure it helped considerability..

Glad it worked for you. The last one I made (white delrin) only lasted about 200 shots and broke. I sent on to Carl and it only last about 40 shots before cracking. I was thinking that Delrin AF was going to be the ticket, but it is was to brittle and I am guessing that it will break i=on the first shot, we'll see. I also made a couple out of teflon and that is in the gun now, but I will need to do some testing on that one as well, maybe tomorrow. I may just have to buy one from AOA so I can see what material they use. I don't mind them breaking, but 20 bucks for 200 shots gets a bit rich!!!! Yours should hold up much much better and you also have the fall back of calling AOA for another if it fails!!!!!

I'm sure hopin it holds up for a while.... the material is fairly hard not quitr sure what type of plastic it is... i'm thinkin the oilin of it is going to keep it from breakin....that manual says the lack of oil could be the ruination of it..

arkmaker †

Hmmmm. I don;t think I used any oil..Maybe that was it!!!!! Thanks Tom.

OLETOM----that's how we learn...I bought 3 different custom valves, to find out they are basically the same...after that, I started modifying my own..They were just as well, saves me TIME and MONEY !!  Same with the HDD !!  live and learn :-* :-* :-*

It frosts my butt that something so simple as a drop of oil might have prevented early failure. Worst part is It never crossed my feeble mind! Kinda embarassing  :-[

Yep, for 26 bucks you get the itty bitty plastic part and the INSTRUCTIONS. I placed pelgunoil on mine at assembly and also place a drop once a week.

I don't know if this would work but ... I have a jar of springer TAR grease (used for springer springs) from Air Rifle Headquarters that might do the same thing if applied to the hammer spring ... just an idea.

Keep in mind ... I'm after velocity, not shot counts, so I don't really care if the hammer bounces.

I understand your point but as you know the hammer bounce occurrs after the pellet has left the chamber and in most cases the barrel so you are really wasting gas that could be used for the next shot.  Also, the reduced noise factor is a big plus.

Give one a try.  Pretty sure you will like it.

I don't see the co2 going out the barrel like I did before installing the HDD so I'm sure it 's going to increase my shot count and I haven't seen a drop in velocity either...I still don't have my mellon flo-thru bolt back and i'm using heavier pellets(no CP's available around here)with a new cartridge i'm at 560fps....the oiling of the HDD wasn't my idea it came with the instructions.....Usually I always try it myself without regards to instructions(LOL)...I also have a pro tops on the way, willlet all know if it increases any shot count, speed etc.

With the Pro-Top you do not need the piercing pin.  So, if you remove the piercing pin your valve volume will increase slightly and should give you a slight increase in FPS.

Will be interesting to see your results.

thanks to B&A  I already have the  correct valve stem for the pro-top, when they sent me  the BOSS valve they had the non-pieercing stem in it.....I just realized tho I have spent $275.00+ on gun and acc. + $45.00 for shipping....but man it is sure fun to see those blackbirds tumble when they get hit....worth every penny ....now it is just shootin time...thanks to all for the great info found here in this forum....oletom :-* :-* :-*

Tom,
I know how you feel. I could have gone out and found a pretty good shooter for what I have invested in mine, but then ya know what? I know this gun better than the back of my hand and now never need to buy another...............but I will, what do you think of this?

Yep, when you get the gun to a certain stage there is nothing more fun than just shooting it till your fingers get sore and you've annihilated everything around from cans to paper to those nasty little varmints.

Glad you are pleased with your creation and for what it's worth, it's really hard to place a price tag on what you've done.

Good job...  :-* :-* :-*
