now that ive ordered the last parts for my 1322 carbine i want to go in the opposite direction and make a long range target shooter sniper type 1377.   so far all i can think is to basicly the same thing as my other gun but with a 24 inch barrel.

im not sure what kind of input im looking for here. i guess just suggestions for making a powerful shooter for shooting accurately out to 100+ feet

hopefully something like this

yeah it will have "the works"

flat top piston/fully modded valve (might even do a poly transfer port if its worth the trouble)
lite valve spring
stronger hammer spring
power adjuster (would i need a stronger hammer spring if i have this?)
steel breech
hollow probe bolt
pinned valve
adjustable trigger
24" inch barrel

i just want maximum power (of course) so it can shoot real far.

edit:  oh yeah and this will be .177 caliber

you should be good out to 100' no problem

very nice build  :-*
have you though about a cheek rest, it may not sound nedesary, but on my custom stock i made, i made an adjustable cheeck peice, and my eye lines perfectly up to the scope, no straining at all.

how 'bout 300 feet? is that possible? kinda lookin for a challenge here. at that point is it all about having the right scope?

eric

100 yards might be stretching the distance for decent accuracy. a decent scope would help but there are other factors at play also.

I never tried 100yrd with a pumper but my .177 magnum break barrel droped almost 3ft in a hundrer yrd shot. after some messin with the scope I could hit a soda can about 8 out of ten times and it barely punchered one side.

100 yards with a .177 is really stretching it, so to speak.  The problem is that small pellet is just plain running out of energy and when it does impact there is nothing left to do any damage.  You'll be lucky to even get a plink on a soda can.

Stick with trying for 50 yards and you will be more successful.

I've never wanted something so useless in my life.

Additionally if you want a (pardon the pun) Mack Daddy barrel, contact Joe at Muzzle Mack, he does some amazing two step target crowning on all of his barrels, and if he has stock, can get you one real quick. That may be of great assistance in reaching the goal of an accurate long range shooter.

i have gone out to 60 yds with my winchester 500xs breack barrel (490 FPS) and it barely gets there, it drops about 5 feet or more and i have to go up one whole revolution puse 18 minutes plus 3 clicks to hit the target, for me this just isnt practical because the wind will effect the pellet SOOOO much that it is nearly impossible to constistently hit the target even if you have the scope zeroed for that range

not practicle but fun as hell, 490 fps. at 100 yrds is amazing. don't know exact what my fps was but the gun was rated at 1000fps and I felt like it was just making it I only penetrated one side of the can at 100 yrd so no not much energy there.
