You can click on profile at the top of the page, click modify profile, scroll down the left side and check "don't show avatars. There, problem solved :)

I find it anoying to have something flashing when I am reading a post. The flashing avitars don't seem to have any real purpose. Can you tell me the reason to have one?

I'm not sure what you folks are talking about on here and what all this fuss is about.  There is no such thing as an 'avitar' and most assuredly nothing known as a flashing 'avitar'.  There is, however, something known as an 'avatar': an electronic image that represents and is manipulated by a computer user (as in a computer game) or forum member.

if you would like an easy step by step on "how to control flash" just pm me. i am happy to help.
we can get you to open a page and :
-ignore all flash
-play flash one time, then freeze
- play normally
- the list goes on.

takes about 8 seconds to control each doman (or entire site) and then you can forget about it, or click and change it on the fly (say if you want to watch any particular flash temporarily)

my browsing is very minimal, i usually block all flash on most pages, but others i allow to play once. and only sites that have their ads controlled are given full ability.

this will also make your pc seem to run faster, and curb drive-by sites and increase security.   I haven't run a standard browser since 2001.
