these days, theres the nifty usage of a laser bore sight... make it in 0 shots.
but its always good to use the ammo your going to use and the distance too...

just sayin.

I use a laser bore sight tool but only to get the gun on the paper.  You still need to fire some shots with your intended pellet and do some final tweaking with the scope elevation and windage adjustments.

my bore sighter is the breech and barrel
i put a target at my desired distance.then take the bolt out look down the bore,center it on the target the best i can.then i adjust the scope to match my bore picture.sling a few pellets down range on target.finished

On the Crosman guns that appears to be one heck of a lot of trouble and work.  Especially since when you pull the bolt you need to remove the hammer pin and to remove the hammer pin you need to remove the breech and to remove the breech you normally need to remove the scope.  And doing all that in the reverse order would totally mess up the alignment you just tried to do.

on my phase 2 1377 its easy no cocking pin
on my newer guns the upper is taken off
i had my scope so screwed up i couldnt get on paper.once i did my process it took 3-4 shots to get on the bull.really 3 the 4th was a confirmation shot

I have a laser bore sighter and it is a good little device to have. But I do find it is only approximate and doesn't account for the
arc of the pellets flight over longer distances. Another factor and this maybe just that mine is a little naff, but if I put the laser in the barrel
and rotate it I find it is not quite true. It gets me close but after that it's the old safe cracking technique. 1, click, 2 clicks, one click back...

It is similar to the technique in the vid mike posted but a one man process. Still I like them.

Mine has the same problem when you rotate it.  Of course, for the price I don't expect true precision optics but it does get you on the paper in a hurry and keeps you from splattering lead where it shouldn't be.  And once on the paper it is then fairly easy to get the scope truly zeroed.

Not to be a pimp (though I am a Staff Shooter for Vortex Optics) but Vortex has some great instructional videos on thier website, though they talk about poweder burners, 99% of it carries over to us gas-passers as well

The youtube video Mike posted is the most simple and yet elegant way to go.  For you bore-sighters, which kind if laser sighters are usable with a 2240 or 1377?  Links would be appreciated.
