Here is my old school shooting gallery to take me back to my youth on the boardwalks of NJ.  Seven shots for 25 cents, Winchester Model 62s with .22 shorts.  I don't know if there is such a thing anymore. That's ok, because in my basement with my 1377 I can hear the clink of the ducks going down and I'm 15 again.  :)

Very cool and a great job on the gallery.  Only thing you need now is popcorn and hot dog aroma to complete the scene.  :)

What he really needs are the sounds of the Gulls and piegons flying after the thrown/dropped fries on the boardwalk and the smell of the Italian Sausage cooking and a few thousand Brats running around.  I guess completly shooting out the white "B" on the targets with the 22's for prizes was before your time.  Sights were off just enough and if you did by chance shoot all of the white "B" out, they would bring out the large 10 power magnifying glass to check.  If you did succeed, they took your picture.  A neighbor did it twice on the same night and won 2 .22's.  After that, they would not allow him to shoot.

In NJ or NY?  Probably not.  ;)
It ain't like it used to be but, eh, it's do.

NYC is a shooting gallery as is Camden, Newark and now Trenton, NJ.  The only requriements in NJ to use the shooting gallery is that you either must be a gang member or spent time in jail.  If you are an Honest citizen, then after 31 Dec. 2013 you will not allowed to own a gun.

NJ has become a total Nazi state that has turned against all honest citizens. I would love to go visit the USS New Jersey Battleship.  However i will not step foot in Camden without a gun, and NJ does not honor gun permits from Pa or anywhere else.

Breakfastchef - I going to post some info on the gallery soon,  I tried the other night and lost everything I wrote.  Just not a computer guy, lucky I can even do this.

That's one of the reasons I left NJ right after retiring.  The crazy thing is, is that some of the same people who pushed for strong gun control and retired to Florida, after getting their DL's go right out and purchase handguns then get CCW permits.  Are you aware that if you were a Reenactor from up north going to a reenactment down south and have a canon, even if enclosed in a trailer, you must first have a state permit to transport it through NJ?  You must also use the Turnpike with a SP escort and are not allowed to stop except for gas or an emergency ONLY.

Just a tip - Off topic - that I often do not follow. Type your response in Wordpad or other simple word processing program and copy and paste the completed response into your reply to all of us here. This way you have a copy of the text for things like spell check, grammer check, etc. The other benefit is that the text won't be lost if your Internet connection goes awry or you accidentally 'hit a wrong button'.

Look forward to a walk through on your shooting gallery. Winter is coming and I need a fun project!

First I bought one of these targets,   http://www.kotulas.com/deals/magnetic-pellet-trap  these are great and are perfect as is.  However I had to make mine bigger so I bought two.  I took them apart and had to do a lot of modifying to get them into my larger trap. Not sure I would go that route again, you could just place one or two units into the larger trap and eliminate what I went through.  The silhouettes on top are sitting on a piece of flat bar and fall right off when hit. Some of the spinners I bought or you can have fun making your own from all types of stuff you find at Lowes.  All the targets are mounted with all thread.  The yellow ducks, some spinners and silhouettes I got here.  http://www.steelplinkers.com/index.html    The biggest expense is the backstop, due to the large size 33 X 36 I had to put out 75 bucks for 1/8 steel.    There is no need to go that big; I went big because I’m trying to come up with a moving or swinging type target this winter.  A couple of cans of spray paint & a bag of sand to keep the pellets from bouncing out and I think you have it.  Take your time and enjoy your build, and when you think of new targets pass them on to me.
