I haven't had the chance to try it yet although I do think that visible light would spook/scare off the rats before I had the chance to shoot at them.  I can see your point though but I must admit, I am not sure how sensitive their are to visible light; hence why I was looking at a more specialist low-light scope which wouldn't alert them.

Has anyone tried this before with your normal torchlight and what kind of reaction do you get from the rats (or other rodents) in the immediate area?

Thank you.  I have heard of the RatCatcher/King RatCatcher being called "cheap and nasty" by some people on other forums.  Cheap may be partially truthful since they are considerably cheaper than quite a few alternatives with the same power but nasty?  I doubt it.  Its a design which works well for me, being lightweight and quite compact too.  The conversion to using the 12gr Co2 bottles really is the icing on the cake for me.

For all my Night Shots I use a Red LED or a Clear LED w/red filter.
Do they sell MagLite Flashlights on your side of the pond???  If so get a XL-50 LED and get the Filter cap for it.
