It got here today just after noon.  Now keep in mind that this is the first Crosman CO2 gun I have ever owned.
My first impression before I opened the box was "This thing don't weigh nothing".
My first impression as I opened the box was "Ooh this is pretty".  Second: "This faux carbon fiber looks pretty dang good."
First impression after I picked it up was "This thing is tiny".  Second: "Good, it DOES have the trigger adjuster".  It was not on the picture at the CCS when I ordered, but has been ever since (making me wonder about it).

The MIM was not attached, but I just had to shoot it, so on went a powerlet (with a touch of pellgun oil) and outside I went with a tin of Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum pellets.  I fired twice with no pellet.  Impression: This sounds like a pellet gun.  Go figure.

No target set up and no sight of any kind on the breech end, so aimed (like mustangmike  ;)) and fired the first shot at a nearly two inch slab of spalted pecan guitar body that didn't make the grade from about 60 feet away.  It hit and ricocheted back towards me.  Next shot was from about 40 feet away and aimed at an empty rattle can (that I set in front of the same pecan wood that is now known to not only stop pellets, but hurl them back at you.  It made a small hole in the front of the can and a HUGE hole (1/2 dollar size coin) in the back.  A few more shots and then had to get back to work.

Overall impression: Seems like a quality piece.  Seems like it needs me to get to know it better.  I am pleased.  :)

Thanks.

Scope mounted and red emitter mounted to barrel.  They are synched with each other... but not to the flight path. LOL

It is almost as hard to do anything constructive in the dark as it is to do nothing at all with a new toy.  Had another ricochet off the pecan wood chunk... in the dark at 30 feet... this one stung me on the right shin.  Seriously, make a note to self "never shoot pecan wood again".  It is like hickory in most respects.

Very nice  :-*

I've been tempted to order the carbon fiber option, now I really gotta have it!
Long days and pleasant nights to you...

Well done Davio, and that CF wrap looks good, would you guess that it is the water transfer type wrap like they do with camo? If it is, the weave alignment was sure done well  :-*

That's awesome! Have to drop the $ on the same someday. I always get conflicted between the carbon fiber and the camo!

I got a few minutes to play with this gun today.  I shot a cart worth of pellets sighting the scope.  The shots were very repeatable until the cart started running out.  ;) It is a little disconcerting to me to be able to actually see the projectile in flight and striking the target (not used to that at all).

I was using a steel 6-panel door as my target at about 30 feet.  I used the corners of the panels as my bull's eye.  No more ricochets today.

The gun does look good with the scope and laser emitter attached.  However, this is only temporary as I am waiting for the BNM breech and shroud.

It is a royal pain in the arse loading these pellets (anyway) but especially with the scope attached.  I do have the scope physically where it needs to be as far as distance from my eye to the scope.

Somebody needs to make a pellet pen that loads them sideways and I'll buy one (since I have fat finger disease of which there is no known cure).

I'm with you there! That is why I like the .22's over the .177. One nice thing about the 1701 is the big open loading port which makes loading the .177 pellets a bit easier.

I had my first ricochet the other day (two actually). I was testing out a new LDC and I guess the exit hole was to small and the pellets were clipping.. Well, the shots flew low, hit the plastic border around my tree where my pellet trap sits and came right back at me.. Luckily, they hit about 6 feet to my right. The force would not have been enough to hurt me (this was on my 1701P shooting about 450 fps) but it sure was a wake up call. They did travel back and hit the fence behind me which is a bit more than 10 meters. I opened up the exit hole by .010" and now I am good.
