Differences between 2240 and 2300s ???

Hello all,

As the title suggests does anyone know the definitive differences between a 2240 and a 2300s - as i would like to see if i can make one from spares
cheaper than they cost in th UK ( where i am from ).

The reason being un the UK the cost of a new 2300s is £380 which converts to .............. $596 !!!!!!!!!! ( i know wtf )

The barrel and sight will cost you the most.

This is a stock 2240:

And this is a 2300s:

The sights are different, barrel length is different, caliber is different, factory steel breech, comes with PA, and has a muzzle weight.

For what it's worth, I recently modded a stock 2240 and it's now just as accurate as my 2300S at 10m or closer from a rest.  I don't have a place I can shoot longer distances.  A different shooter may have different results with the same pistols.

I did the following:
Steel receiver
12" MellonAir barrel
LPA Mim rear sight
Tweaked the trigger
2300S hammer spring
Crosman extended bolt and bolt handle

I may have lucked out with the barrel but it is very accurate--I've tried it on two different guns with the same excellent results. 

My 2240 is still .22 vs the .177 2300S.  Is also has a much lower shot count on a CO2 cartridge.  The trigger on my 2240 is now better than the 2300S, which makes a big difference.  I'm getting ready to mod the 2300S trigger in the same manner. 

The Williams sight on the 2300S is much easier to adjust but once you've got it dialed in there's not a lot of difference between the two.  Both have nice crisp notches.  I blacked out the white dots on the LPA.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated, what ive done now is downloaded the exploded diagrams from crosman and gone throught them below is a list of what ive spotted
so far

1. lothar walther barrel
2. steel breech
3. pressure adj assembly ( inc spring )
4. valve ( as noted earlier just a spacer added ) ( looks to be the same as the 2300t )
5. Adj trigger spring
6. muzzle brake( with sight peg)
7. rear sight
8. trigger stop screw

I'm sure i have also read that the hammer itself is lighter ( can anyone confirm this?)

Looking at the parts list above - i am sure i can make my own 2300s out of a standard 2240 with spares / custom parts, for
a fraction of the cost of a new one especially in the UK ( once again $596  ..wtf !!!!!!!!!!)
In fact looking at it - if i can get hold of a 1701p trigger ass i can make a much better 2300s  for the less than buying new in the
UK.

Dang near twins, jdub.  Very nice.     Regarding the mellonair barrel, is it the only one you have?  or are they not all good?  What I'm getting at is I need a couple of barrels and wonder whether best to get stock Crosman or Mellonair or other (except Lothar Walther too expensive for frankenparts guns I want to build)?

With regards to the MellonAir barrel it's the only one I have or have had.  I have no idea if they're all this good or not.  I've compared this one to two Crosman barrels and it's certainly more accurate in my hands.  I've been shooting these to guns side by side doing comparisons and the 2240 is easily holding its own.   I did not expect it to be this consistent/accurate.

The mellonair barrel is a Crosman barrel that he cuts and recrowns. Definitely an improvement over stock because of the crown. But it wont make a really bad barrel better if there are other problems besides the crown.  I have a bone stock 1377 barrel with the ugly Crosman crown. It shoots better than my mellonair barrel. So all that to say Charlie improves the barrel as it comes from Crosman.  The only way to guarantee you're getting a great barrel is to get an LW.

i have a stock 2250 barrel that is a very straight shooter right from the factory.it will shoot one hole 10 yards as long as in doing my part.i figured if 10 shots through the same hole at 10 yards works then it should be good at any yards.i know the longest shot i have taken was @ 88yds right on target

You will need to add a pellet feed ramp and a air inlet hole. But yes. It is possible
