No not a t all, I have some nice lemon wood I just band sawed down it's length and carefully inlet either side with a router so it completely encased the frame. It's just a thin skin of wood covering the frame back and front so it's not too wide or deep if you know what I mean, reach to trigger is still nice.
Then shaped to fit my hand. It's quite hand filling, the way I like it. I like a nice hand full !!
