Hi, i,m not new to shooting but new to airguns. I bought a 1377 for my first gun and am starting to mod it.Just installed a new 12" barrel.my stock gun shot really tight groups at 10yds off a bench. The new barrel is throwing shots all over the paper.Fired 25 rounds and never got 2 rounds to land close together,Whats up.does a new barrel have to "break in" or is this barrel a dud?

Check the crown of the barrel stick a q tip down the barrel and when you pull it out there should be no fibers stuck in the tip of the barrel. Make sure the barrel it tight.

Did you enlarge the stock front site or get an after market front sight?

sbcrockett

yeah, the original plastic barrel band has the front site incorporated in it. you have to drill it out to 7/16ths I think, but don't quote me on that.

on second thought, you should just get one of michael chavkas metal barrel bands!  :D

Might be a pellet issue..You should try other brands. Best regards,

What breech are you using?
Did you drill the stock front sight out for the longer barrel or you using a different front sight/barrel band?

some barrels are pellet picky
if you have a square chech and make sure the business(crown) end of the barrel is square
also roll it across a flat surface make sure it isnt bent
where did you get the barrel?
closed mouths dont get fed

I,m using a red dot sight, mounted on the rails of a crosman steel breech.no sight to drill on a new barrel. I,d rather not mention the persons name before i get a chance to talk to him and see what he thinks.thanks for all the replys. I,m new to airguns and to this site, thanx

Accuracy problems are difficult to figure out. The only thing changed was the barrel. If the barrel crown and lead in look good, and there are no burrs in the transfer port of the barrel, maybe it is just a bad barrel?

What are you using to hold the pump arm in place, if you are not using the stock plastic front sight?

P.S. If your are free floating the barrel, drill and tap the steel breech for a second and or third set screw.

Picture please.

Barrel,s not free floating, have a crosman barrel band withlut front sight.holds and clamps on barrel a d front pump ha dle bolts to

That explains your problem then. If your 1377 barrel/band looks like this, then this it's problem.

This was my solution.

To keep the forearm from hitting the barrel band I installed a 2289 forearm. I could trimmed the original forearm , so it won't hit the barrel band.
