Notched Sights and Front Sights Are HUGE

I don't have a bunch of these guns (yet), but the ones I do have with notched sights are good for 5 meters, but any farther than that and the end blade centered in the notch (for example the MIM) is bigger than the center of the target.  Its a bit better on the carbine (2400) but not much.  Why?  Why are the blades so damn wide and why are the notches so big?  IMO this like is like caveman crude.

Why wouldn't a finer (narrower) blade and a smaller notch be a big improvement.  I'd get a Williams peep sight if that is an improvement (never looked through one yet), but not sure if they will work for the 22xx, 2300, 2400 guns out of the box (even though the CCS will sell one on a 2300 or 2400 I see).

What are the finest (as in resolution) iron sites available?

Why not mod a set of rifle sights that you like?

I dont have any problem with the sights at all even at 30 yards yeah they could be better and thats why most of us change them to a scope or a better set of iron sights.

I'm not sure if it was just because i was used to the BSA sights that i wanted to change them, i have a scope and steel breech, so the factory ones didn't fit any way. Plus i already had the sights lying spare, so they were cost free.
But i am glad i did fit them on.
They may look too big in the pics, but they aren't really.

Try setting your sights to the 6 o'clock hold. This works very well for target/bullseye shooting.

you do realize you get what you pay for
So true, Ed.  :)  I'll gladly pay if I can realize what I need to get.  I believe I could shoot better at 20 meters if the tip on the end of the barrel is really fine/thin (or even has a pointed tip) and the notch on the breech end is a "V".  I just need to know what is out there.

What you have in the picture looks like a big improvement.  What gun is that on?  A pistol? Is that circle a shroud or hood around the barrel sight?

The BSA sights are off an old airsporter, click adjust windage and elevation, front sight has an inch long hood, "V" notch at rear.

It's on a modded pc77 pistol, .22 carbine.

Does anybody know for sure if the Crosman Williams 64 peep sight will fit the 22xx/2300/2400 guns (carbine and/or pistol)?  I assume so since the Crosman Custom Shop has them as optics options.  But if I get one, does it mount like a MIM (slide sideways into the dovetail) or other?  Does it require any modifications to work for the guns listed above?  Are different apertures available for the sight?

williams 64 peep sight fits the dovetail not the slot where the lpa fits.they do a version with a peep ? hole dont know if its still called the 64 still tho and i think the aperture is meant more for rifle use.they also do a cheaper version that you need a tool to adjust.

fivestar45

The Williams #64 peep is made for the Sheridans. It mounts with two screws that are tapped into the right side of the breech. I have one my Sheridan F, and on my lefty Disco carbine, but I had to mill a flat on the breech and drill and tap two holes to fit it. What you might want to try is the Williams wgrs54. That one slides into the scope rails and is reasonably priced. With any of the peeps, you will probably need a higher front sight.
But for a shoulder gun, in my opinion the peep is superior. If you have to use an open sight on a shoulder gun you will find it best to mount the rear sight  at least a foot from your eye.

Don't rely on Crosman or PA or other websites for their descriptions of the Williams sights, go here   http://www.williamsgunsight.com/   and get firsthand knowledge on the good stuff. And yes, in many applications, the front sight requires elevation to match line o' sight to the the peep.

FWIW I ordered the Crosman Williams peep, so hopefully will find out firsthand what it will and will not do.  :)
I will report my findings since there appears to not be huge following of this sight on our guns at this time.
