my mistake

While working on the trigger of my 2240 I was dry firing quite a few times not realizing i had a spent co2 powerlet in the gun. when I went to test the pistol and load a powerlet I couldn't get the powerlet out, the piercing pin had swollen it in the valve. I had to compleatly dissamble the gun to get it out. Has anyone else made this mistake?

it has been mentioned here on the forum before.i read that before getting my first 2240 so i knew not to dry-fire with a cart in.
you are not the first and wont be the last! hopefully someone can learn from this thread as i have learned from similar posts in the past

I had one get stuck so I drilled into the end of it, then ran a 3" screw into the hole and pulled it out fairly easily.

I didn't think of that. I took the gun apart and pulled it out of the valve. at least I'm not the only one to do this. Thanks 1377xx I hope everyone will learn from my mistakes also.

The other day when wanting to fire the two-tone gun I am working on, I was not paying attention and put the very first powerlet in backwards... tightened the cap and noticed it had more threads than usual before it got hand tight... fired like 4 or 5 time and nothing... went and got the BIG screwdriver and couldn't tighten it but about a half turn... still no co2.. backed it out and

DUH

There is a first time for everything, I suppose. Glad nobody saw that !

I used to get that with a heavy hammer spring. Then I deceided it was too much hassle and put the standard spring back in, never happened since.

+1 on that Davio one other time i just kept fireing it with the cap off and that also worked.

The easiest way to eliminate that problem forever is by using a Pro-Top on the valve.
With that, even a heavy striker spring can be used and make a greater difference than using piercing pin stems because the stem will never be stopped by a pin hitting the powerlet again.

The guy who makes them periodically puts one up for sale on the Yellow Classifieds. There was one listed last week, but my email to him was never replaied to.

Easiest solution:

Get a hot glue gun stick, heat the end til it gets 'melty'
Then stick it to the stuck co2 cartridge, let it set and cool off for 10 seconds or so, then pull. The cartridge comes out.

If the problem is recurring and you dont want to et a new valve seal, then flip yourvalve seal over. If the problem stays, keep the glue stick and a lighter with you when youre shooting...

Everything else is just too much work.

need to look into the barrel bands you have also
