What work did you just do?

Ern, that looks great....Better & better. :-*

Last fall I re-polished a grip frame as they don't stay polished as you had noted some time ago.  After polishing & cleaning I used Krylon Clear Gloss to paint it.  Appx. 6 mos. now without too much use and it still looks as shinny as when it was first polished.  Will see how it holds up through a summer of shooting.

Does scratching your head thinking how you'll design and build a part count? If so, I ''worked'' 2 hours today thinking about a two-stage piston for my 1377 8).

Not too long back I received a couple of pieces of aluminum tube and during the last week or so I made a 2240 Lite tube from one of the pieces.  I had actually bought a 13/16x28 tpi tap a year ago in anticipation of making my own tube but never got around to using it till this past weekend.  And while the alloy tube weighs in at 57 g, my cut down steel main tube (weighing 122.3 g) is still more sexy with the cut outs so you can see the insides.  I may eventually try putting the slots in the alloy tube one of these days.

I'll be installing the new tube in the next few days and will have another weigh in for my 2240 Lite.

I also have  a piece of carbon fiber tube that I am turning into a main tube.  The carbon fiber is a little bit of a challenge as it is not thick enough to support tapping for the breech screws, the front trigger frame screw as well as the gas cap.

The "two-stage" 13xx" pump mentioned above by airmec is very interesting.  Two things immediately come to mind; the spring has to be heavy enough to hold the inner piston back until the tube is sealed during all strokes, and the pump arm has to extend farther.

If interest continues, perhaps this should be moved to its own topic.  If I ever get my lathe, this will be something relatively easy to machine.

Carl, How in the world did you hold the alum tube to thread it. ???  I gave up on threading some tube because I thought I would dent or bend it trying to hold it in place while threading.
