Any of you guys shooting .177 or .22 darts (flechettes) these days?

Just wondering.  ???

The only .177 and .22 darts I have ever seen are the "chrome pointy fluffy butt steel darts".   ;) I know there are larger bore blowgun darts, but I was referring to the .177 and .22 darts that have always been available from Marksman and are also made by Umarex (and others I am sure).

The smooth bore .177 project I am working on for BB's would also be a good candidate for dart shooting at the right distance.  Too close and/or powerful and the darts are not reusable... too far and the accuracy suffers (dropping).  They are surprisingly accurate at 5 to 15 meters and are re-usable if shot at a properly made target.

The "fluffy butt" gets manscaped if you're seriously tuning them (and don't like them hanging onto the probe o-ring), but they are good to go as they are for general purposes. At velocity they are pretty devastating (damage and knockdown)... more so than a pellet or BB.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.  :-*

Now I remember that I would have needed another gun in smoothbore to shoot them.  Also, I don't have any place in my office to hang a dartboard and if I did, it would be less than 3 meters away.

It's already at home but with the money I make, it is time for a smaller office and a smaller home.

The Marksman metal 911 .45 looking breech springer had very little velocity as I recall.  I believe I could throw a rock faster.  It's a whole 'nother animal with our guns.  The "problem" is making sure what you're shooting at doesn't destroy the darts.

Since I'm already going for the 15.25" smooth barrel for BB's with a 2240/2250 bastard, I am going to "invest" in some of these and find out what it takes to make it work and make them re-usable.

The thing about these colored darts and targets is that each shooter can have their "color" on a larger bull (wife, daughter and grandson in my case). You can wait until many shots and THEN go see who shot what and who "won".  Then retrieve the darts and do it again.

If it ain't no fun, then I'll let you know.  ;)

That's sounding pretty cool...multiple players, indoors at a short range...yea  :-*

So, if it's a doable thing your going to sell us a conversion kit for the 2240...barrel, darts, etc  ;)

;D ;D ;D  No, you guys can get your own $20 760 Pumpmasters from Midway (until the end of the month).  Then strip what you need off it for the project (.177 smooth barrel, probe magnet, clip on rear sight and fiber optic front sight).  :-*
