I've read all the threads on here from the past 6 months regarding red dots, and I still can't make up my mind about using a red dot for backyard pesting.

Specifics: 1377 Carbine @ 7FPE. Range: 5m-25m. Current optic: Hawke Sport 4x32

I like the Hawke, but interested in exploring new options. UTG has a red dot for $40 plus a $10 adapter. The BSA is $20 at Cabela's right now.

I want to hear from those who can speak from experience on making shots count at these ranges.

lots of red dot hunting experience here
i have shot moving targets accurately with great success because the red dot lets me shoot both eyes open and was able to follow my target easier than with a magnified scope
i have threads on gta's hunting gate with red dot kills.
personally i dont like the bsa, tasco RD red dots too much parallax error
i have a millet sp1 and a tasco pdp3 they have very little parallax error
the millet is supposed to eliminate parallax error  with the the right number dialed in it goes from 0-11,i can say with the 3moa dot the parallax error is very little and hardly noticeable.its only $60 shipped iirc and worth it
midway has a $10 promo code bringing the price down to $50 free shipping

I have a cheap BSA with a 5 MOA dot. I love it, but for further then 10-15 meters I would definitely get a smaller dot like other have mentioned.

Great info here, guys.  I will take a look at these options and report back with more questions if needed.
