It is a good idea if you're bulk filling, even @ 850 psi (regarding pinning the valve):

The fitting shown for conversion to bulk fill has the full area of the tube "bore" (inside diameter) exposed to pressure. The force trying to shear off the valve retention screw is the pressure multiplied by the area. This works out to ~375 lbs force @ 850 psi ...the single stock 6-32 screw was never meant to handle this amount of force.

That an overfill or merely a warm day could drive the pressure WELL past 850 psi bears mention.

Simple mathematics/physics will tell you that a screw that is designed to withstand  20, 30, 50, say even 100 lbs of force will eventually fail when exposed to forces 4 times that amount (minimum). No need to "fill in the blank" there... ;)

Well my machinist finally got off vacation and I got him to pin my valve for me. I could of prolly done it myself but since this is a CCS gun I wanted it to look good. It is hard to tell in the picture but he milled the hole in the tube to the exact OD of the screw head. So the screw head itself bears the load.

what size is the screw?
8-32 is a good size for 1900psi

Your guy did a nice job. :-*

How I do it too...except I use 8-32 or 10-32 low head shcs....they end up basically flush with the tube.

Well I finally got my 80 CF 3k scuba tank back and decided to push the limits on my 2400KT and see what the chrony looked like.
Mods done to the gun:
Bulk fill fitting
Boss Max Flow valve with stock valve spring and valve stem.
Pinned the valve.
Stock hammer and hammer spring (Test reviled I need to get a heavier spring and power adjuster)

This test was done with a 2k psi fill. Couple errors at the beginning trying to line up my shots over the chrony.

Any Suggestions on hammer spring part numbers and power adjusters are welcome. I would like to get a heavy hammer spring and a power adjuster to tame it down.

De-facto standard answer is the Discovery hammer spring.  Best overall spring for the money.

disco spring is nice for 2k fills .not to heavy anything thicker than a disco spring requires at least a 2400psi fill
12 nice shots from 11-22 that would the sweet spot imo

Cool, I'll call Crosman Monday and order the spring, fill adapter and end cap. That fill adapter will screw into my tube same as the disco correct?

you have the bna adapter right?
i dont think the cap will fit
why do you need another fill adapter if you have the bna fill adapter?

I'm not a big fan of the 45 deg fitting. I didn't know it was going to be like that when I ordered it. I like the clean straight look.
