folk take a perfectly good pistol and put a stock and a long barrel on it pretty much turning it into a rifle if you want a rifle why not buy a rifle in the first place. I'm not having a pop at those who do im just wondering why you do it.

could be one of many things but tinkering and modding are enjoyable to some folks while some like to shoot while others like to just collect --- the hobby like others has many facets .it's up to you to find what you enjoy  ;)

Pretty much because we can. I was shooting at tree rats once with a stock 2240 in my back yard and it is a big yard. Wishing I had a scope so decided to install a steel breech well then it all started the longer barrel was next. Yeah I had rifles but wanted the challenge to convert my pistol to a carbine for that long shot. Let the mods begin. Give it a try you will enjoy it for sure.

The 22xx and 13xx are an excellent base for creating a compact carbine.
Long days and pleasant nights to you...

You three are from the states do you have the same power restrictions that we do in the uk, I did wonder if they actually became officially classed as rifles so we could legally up the power to 12 ft/lbs

your laws(UK) and ours differ(USA) --- there are some UK folks here that can explain better than me but something claimed as a pistol in the UK will ALWAYS be a pistol so making it a rifle could be a problem due the limits (FPE/fps) on both the pistol and the rifle

X2. Crosshairs' statement sums it up well. You can mod for power, for accuracy, for aesthetics, or any combinations of the three. Enthusiasts always try to improve upon a 'base' model whether it be autos, computers, homes or guns. The journey through all the possibilities can be very alluring.

longer barrel is a easy way to both increase the FPS and decrease the SPL . add the shoulder stock and you have a very light rifle that's also compact and easy to breakdown for a smaller storage/transporting package . not everyone's cup of tea , but it's the cats meow for some folks . :)

With the 1389 Crosman stock, I can change my pistols into carbines and then back again quickly providing the barrels stay under 12", all is good  :-*

for me i cant do that here in the usa with a firearm so i do it to air guns.if i tried that with a firearm 2 things can and would happen.1 if i just did it like i do with air guns wit h a firearm i would be looking at stay with bubba as a roommate for 4-10 years or 2 i have to live in a dtate where turning a pistol is allowed then i would have to pay $200 for a tax stamp then i would need to pay a class 3 dealer to do the paperwork then i would have to wait for approval which takes 3 months or more.oh i forgot to mention that i would need a letter of approval from my local judge or law enforcement and finger prints before i can even start the paperwork
once all that is done then i could turn my firearm pistol into a short barrelled rifle.why would i want to do that to be able to take longer shots with a pistol caliber thats not available in rifle calibers ;)
so i cut all that out and do it to my air gun pistols
