I've done it both ways.  It is not too hard to determine the correct location of the holes to use the screws and that is the way I prefer to do it.  The only issue going the other way is when you remove your stock with the QD pin installed and putting the grips on it, the QD pin can dig into your hand when shooting with the pistol grips.  I prefer the stock with the holes drilled and having to remove and install the screws to having the QD pin dig into the web of my thumb during pistol practice (I have big hands).
If you are only going to shoot it as a carbine but need to break it down for transport or to fit it in your case, using the QD pin would be quicker and less hassle than fooling with the screws.
Cheers,
I just love these online forums!!! You don't even have to think up your own justification for buying both a 1322c AND a 2289g (Doomsday... Kit) :-* Flex

And if there weren't enough reasons to get a 2289 bug out kit, how about one for $79.88 with free shipping.

If the WalMart "Super Deal" of $69 were to return within 90 days of my "not so super deal" of $87 purchase, I would order another and return the "original" ;) purchase! The $79.88 close out at Academy is a great price but not worth my effort for $7 (IMHO). The Crosman price of $109.99 is clearly out of line. I think that Pyramid Air sells them for $99.99. I'm cool with my $87. The Academy price is excellent and interested folks should jump on it as the WalMart $69 may NEVER return. Flex

Don't forget to lay newspapers on the floor in case the puppy pistol has an accident.   :P

Phone books work better than newspapers for the pistol accidents.

They have them again, for $46.99. I'm very weak and bought one, might keep it stock.

When they were 39.99 I bought 2, and they are still in the packages waiting for a great build idea.
