.22 caliber bore diameter?

Here's a question for all you accuracy aficionados. Has anyone ever measured (slugged) the bore on a standard Crosman .22 barrel? The reason being, I did some shooting today and cleaned up the shooting box afterwards (loose pellets, chewed up backing). I found a couple of pellets with no damage inside (Crosman premier hollow points). I thought I would check for rifling marks, there were none? Nothing on the heads or skirts. I thought this odd considering the barrel was definitely rifled. I randomly checked the OD on the heads and skirts of the pellets in the tin (12 pellets) and they averaged OD-Head .2165 and OD-Skirts .2205.
Since I currently don't have a bore dimension, I don't know if this is a common occurrence or I have a bad barrel or under diameter pellets. If I place another order at Brownell's I might order some "Cerrosafe" and slug the barrel. I've used this on my competition .45 barrels to match up the best bullet dia. for that particular barrel. The other option is to try some pellets with larger diameters. I'll search for pellet diameters and see what I come up with. I think that would make some great info for the pellet database thread.

chances are better you have under sized pellets .only a hand full of companies have consistently made pellets as well as different sizes/weights OF THE SAME PELLET(edit --- IN THE SAME CALIBER). your barrel could be a bad one too knowing crosmans history on quality control....

I'll hope for the undersized pellet option. I did find a couple of interesting links on pellet specs. This will help in choosing a pellet larger than the CPHP's. I don't want to waste money on getting pellets the same size.

I use eley wasp 5.6mm pellet to ensure a good fit in the rifling.
They are not bad all rounder dome heads, no dodgey fliers either.
Couldn't say the actual weight of the pellets though.

Yep...Larger skirts and softer pellets. Never really concerned about pellet sizes before. If they were accurate then they were OK. I can see were a softer pellet would provide better expansion and bite into the rifling. Oh well...Live and learn
