Locally there is a Crosman SSP 250 for sale.  I found a little info already.  Are repair parts available? Is it rare enough that it should be collectable instead of useable?
How does it compare with 2240 or 2300s?    Any tips or insight will be appreciated. Thanks

GREAT little Co2 pistols ... Collectable YES ... Shootable YES ... Parts support ... NO mostly.
Trigger frames interchange, but upper receiver parts are ALL SSP specific fitment unless you start modifying things to fit from other Crosman pistols.  That doable but some machine work required in most cases.

** Biggest trouble spot is the swing out loading gate being broken ( No replacements around any longer ) and the Poly insert for different calibers. * .177 insert are RARE to find, .20 and .22 you can still get.

On my personal SSP retrofitted the steel breech kit from a 1377 doing the require machining mods.  Pellet loads by Bolt, cocked by rear knob as before.

My modified SSP before breech conversion done shown here with big brother:

Nicely done Motorhead... +1 to your notes, those SSP guns were a decent enough concept by Crosman but, the loading gate and associated parts were weak and now, hard to find.

i can get the inserts in .20 and .22 but not .177 the swing gate i bought out all the extra ones and dispersed them to the members of CAPOF in need
they are still available from a different vendor but at an outragous price
closed mouths dont get fed

Thanks for the info so far.  I'm negotiating!   Did they come with three barrels (.177, .20, .22) or might these have been added?

Came with ONE barrel best I know ? but available in all 3.   Also were barrel / load gate insert kits available while gun was in production.

Just got a Crosman SSP 250.  I installed a co2 cartridge, pulled the trigger once and gas was escaping, a little more tightening on the cap didn't seal.
Installed a second cartridge and it leaked right away.
Admittedly I didn't have oil on the tip op either cartridge and will try that when I get the gun home.
Anything else obvious to look for?
I'm posting in Crosman Pistol Owneres also if I can get the web sight  to load
TIA

The disk seal top of valve serves double duty, one being the SEAL for the valve internal body to Co2 piercing cap, second the seal between piercing cap and Co2 cartridge.  * Over time seal will get damaged. The original seal is NLA, but you can use the current seal that under OEM P/N supersedes to the current version.

If the valve poppet it self is damaged, it is NLA from Crosman BUT available from Tim at Mac-1

Have fun !

Has anyone documented the work that needs to done to add a bolt breech to the SSP250?
Just in case.

Not that I ever found  ??? ... so just winged it matter of fact and ended up just fine.

Screw hole within the pellet loading valley of STEEL breech needs to be opened up to accept a 6-32 screw diameter, head area countersunk deeper that does ever so slightly involve cutter contact to face of breachs top edge for tooling clearance.
Then a bit of grinding on a new counter sunk head allen screw for that hole so head JUST FLUSHES with floor of loading valley so head of pellets don't snag.

Barrel from the SSP likely will have TOO MUCH lead taper and may need to be faced off so the closing bolts O-ring can contact it and seal upon closing.

Really just straight up mechanics of fit, finish and required clearances  :-*
