When cruising around this morning and hitting up some local yard sales and happened to run across a deal I couldn't resist. Now I'm just wondering would I be better off restoring it and leave it stock or should I just start the upgrade process? The stamp on the side of the tube leads me to believe it was made May of '89.
It's a Crosman SSP-250 .177 cal.

This thing feels like it was built like a TANK. I have to clean it up and get the C02 cart unstuck so I can see if it even shoots.
Great gun. You will love it.
Carl
I hadn't even heard of one before I saw this one. I basically payed the guy next to nothing for it, so I'm hoping that it isn't really messed up.
I had one of those!!!
Nice find

Clean it up and restore it. I think it holds more value in stock configuration. Parts diagram available from Crosman and plenty of information about the pistol on the web. Very good score.
Great find!!! You guys always get so lucky at these yard sales :-* Let us know if it still shoots!
A green seer??

I think I probably will just clean this up and leave it stock. It seems to be in great condition. With maybe one little tiny spec of rust..
Restore it to original!!! Great guns just as they are :-*
Excellent find. Wish I found it!
Grip frame had a lot less metal to it back when this was built. And the hammer and spring are way different.

Mike
:-* That's a Great find :-* I would put it ALL stock! :-*
I want one ... have the grip frame ..............
Looks like you snagged a good one. :-*
Funny thing is I feel like the guy was just a one gun type airgun guy. He bought it a long time ago, shot it a few times then threw it in the closet. Then today he decided to bring his "old junk" out and get a couple bucks. I'm still smiling about how cheap I got it for and the fact that I almost had to push my 8 year old son away when the guy said how much he wanted for it. I saw my son race to pull his cash out and I was like "NO, IT'S MINE!!!" I'm in the process of cleaning it up right now and I can tell you that this thing is in immaculate condition. Ill have to get a few more pics when I get it back together.
I think that is a 2-stage hammer. Pull to 1st click for low power and 2nd click for high power.
Rich
I noticed the 1st click and second click when I was messing around with it. I was going to ask why it did that.. Now I know. Thanks.

Rich
that would be correct
Wow nice find James. :-* :-* :-*
Mine is .177 also she shoots hard and straight, made much better then what crosman is making these days. Heavy for what it is but i like that. I would never change anything on her.
Mike
Looks good Mike. Seems like you have one that's in great shape also. After cleaning it up, mine looks a lot better now. Ill have to get out soon and see how it shoots.

I wish I had one of those hammer set ups to blueprint and duplicate. I think it would be a cool mod on the 2240 platform shooters. Anyone want to lend me one for me to take dimensions off?
That cleaned up very nice James, yours is nice to Mike I would say leave it stock.jmo :) :) :)

Great idea, Rich! If I had one I would send it to you in a minute, but.... ???
Pic of a "dual power", rear-cocking hammer w/PA set up I wanted to try, but still haven't got around to yet:
Now that looks different. :-* :-* :-*
I'd send you my hammer, I'm just a little skeptical on if it would make it there and back without USPS losing it.
Man that gun cleaned up real nice. She looks great now :-* :-*
Thanks guys. It did clean up really nice. And im definitely gonna leave it stock. Mike, what year was yours made? It seems like your breech is different than mine.
Looks like the same cocking knob set up I have on my 1377. Great find for a garage sale and in great condition. Never seen a trigger like that with the spring in between the trigger and sear. If ya can't get the cartridge out just drill a small hole in the end of the cartridge put a screw in it and pill it out. :-*
Cartridge ended up coming out no problem at all. Looked like it hasn't been in there for very long either. After fully ripping it apart and cleaning it all up. The thing is truly in immaculate condition with just a few small parts where the paint had been chipped off. I actually like it that way tho. The more I got to thinking about it having a gun that is 24 years old and still in the good of condition and all the parts are still there and never been re painted or anything just makes it that much more of a cool find.. I had been beating around the bush at the beginning about how much I paid for it and I guess I'll spill the beans now.... Still can't believe the guy sold it to me for $15..
To make this week even better. I picked this up in the clearance section of bass pro this morning. I couldn't believe it when I asked them to ring it up to see how much it was. It lights up, looks fine just hope it works the way it should..

I hope this was a good buy.. Seemed so to me. :-*
Man James you stepped in something lucky didn't you good for you. :D ;D ;D ;D
$10! Man that's a score. You need to go put some money on the power ball with all the good luck you got going.
r me to take dimensions off?

Wow James!! :-*
It was your lucky weekend :-*
I have always liked those guns allot. Yours really did clean up really nice. Have you got to shoot her yet? If you have, is she accurate?
What a great score on the red dot!!! What is the size of the dot in that?
PS - can I come over and rub your head for good luck??!?
;D ;D ;D
It definitely was a pretty lucky weekend. I'm hoping to come out of this weekend with the same kind of luck. It's a 5 MOA dot on the red dot. I really didn't like it when I first saw it because of how bulky and heavy it is for a pistol but the more I look at it the more it grows on me. I haven't shot it yet but might take it with me this weekend when I go to shoot. Everything seems to be ok with it, just hope the seals are good. I don't want any good luck to rub off yet.... Nobody has hit Powerball yet. ;D :D ;D
