My Crosman 2240 pistol, the Crosman Quest 1000 rifle, and the RWS rifle (which is my husband's but I keep stealing it from him and shooting it :D ). Most of the guns are his except for the 2240 and the Quest. They were gifts.

I know what you mean Rich my first 2240 with the custom brass CO2 tube i made for it and every thing else i have over $400 to $500 in it at least for a $54 gun and my 1377 i have more way in goodies than it costs with no power upgrades i know i have over $3000 tied up but what the heck i enjoy this hobby

Why RWS? What are you going to do with the rifle primarily?
If just targets and plinking, there are many other choices IMO, and most are less $ and smoother shooters than the (arguably over-priced) RWS guns.

here it is
the tube was made by dc, the internals by wmva & crosman, 1701 trigger,1399 stock, crosman steel breech & barrel, bolt by mellonair
this gun has much potential i fill it to 3000psi and can go as high as 3400psi without doing a couple more mods
i am going to switch out the breech. right now i have a rjm hi-rise breech and a bfd hi-rise breech that are the candidates. i am thinking because of the power it has the bfd would be the the best choice because it uses a short 4-48 breech screw. i was told by someone who makes custom parts that the long 4-48 breech screw leads to the breech being weakly secured to the tube causing leak and accuracy issues. i have spoken to a few of the custom parts makers on the phone for an hour or more. learned some good info from them. actually 2 of the parts makers told me of the long 4-48 breech screw being the weak link why dont they just use a 6-32 screw?.
How many?

Nice shooter Ed!
More/finer threads (higher tpi) is needed because of the thin tube wall thickness. There just isn't anything for the screw to grab onto with a coarse thread screw like the 6-32. It might look bigger, but this is one case where bigger is not better. Also, I don't believe that a shorter 4-48 screw would make any difference from the long 4-48 screw. Either way, it will only grab (thread) the thickness of the tube. If it strips, it's coming out under pressure. Which is why it is always a good thing to anchor the valve and use a barrel band up close to the breech. A thought I have had was that to bad the valve did not extend further rearward so that a larger screw such as the 6-32 could anchor the breech through the tube and into the valve itself. Then you would end up with real security of the barrel and breech.
Of course these are my opinions, but based on 40 years of shop theory and practice (with a few failures along the way). ;)
I think I have 11 or 12 or something .... :( ..... ;) :-*

a lot of people have changed the 4-48 to 6-32. iirc, it is recommended when using high pressures like 2600psi on up
my 70fpe disco uses (2)6-32 screws to help hold the breech down. i cant remember which vendor it was that had the breech blow the single 4-48 right out of the gun. even though that happened the slug was still sent screaming the tube at a really good speed but once they upgraded to the 6-32 breech screw the breech never popped up again ???
i dont know the science of it but when someone who makes and shoots high powered airgun routinely recommends it i usually go with the advice of the experienced
when i put the breech on using the (2)6-32 screws i could feel them really biting down
In this case, I still feel that more tpi is better, along with a band up near the front of the breech. Like I said, just my opinion and everyone has more than enough of those to go around ;D
Regardless, that spot in either screw size is a weak spot because of the thin wall of the tube. Not so much a concern to me though, cause if you think about it, the only time it sees pressure is when the valve opens and then the barrel becomes the easy outlet for the air/gas behind the pellet. Sound right? Now pinning the valve is definitely a must do, because it would really suck to feel a hammer and valve hit me in the shoulder with 2k of pressure behind it!

been there
forgot to put 2 of the 3 retaining screws in before testing for leaks. luckily there was no hammer and end cap. at 1800psi the valve shot out the back of the gun hitting me in the forearm before going 30 more feet lodging itself in a box. i had a deep hard bruise the size of at least a soft ball it stayed a several weeks before starting to clear up
arkmaker the 4-48 screw is the waekest link but what can be done?
i laughed when the vendor told me about blowing the breech off the gun. iirc he was using a valve he made that released all 3000psi in one shot
my how your collection has grown brutuz and this is after you sold some off

You both are correct! That happens so rarely these days. More threads IS better in the thin-walled tubes, BUT higher shear strength of a larger diameter screw is very important since that lateral pressure on the shaft of the screw is what would fail if one were to "adios" on you.
I learned this the hard way about 7 years ago when a new rotary engine porting and Barry Grant Race Demon carb literally slung the passenger side drive wheel off the rear. It happened immediately since it is a limited slip differential and the one was gone before the other engaged or it would have broke both sides! The threads of the lug studs did not fail. The torque sheared all four studs off immediately and launched the tire. I had to comb the woods to find the brake hub. Very lucky this happened during tuning as I would hate for that to happen during a "spirited drive" on some back road twisties. Solution: 160,000 psi rated tensile / shear strength dirt track racing style lug studs of the same thread / diameter / length, but far far beyond the possibility of ever doing that again. Same principle.
Well I had 30 but down to 27 now. Sold 3 at a yard sale this weekend for my Granddautghters Med. bills. So they went for a good cause. Want take long to replace them with some more and more and more LOL
Nowhere near as many as I would like to have! :( :(
Just a measly 3 at this point:
1377 mod
2400KT .177 in-process for the wife (shootable at least)
2240 to 2260 (.177) "mixed breed"...full-out custom bulk feed hunter (still waiting for all of the parts)
Now I'll have a complete spare frame and bare 2240 tube to play with, mentioned a riser breeched full-length shroud pistol to the wife today...I got the "one raised eyebrow" look so I guess that project will be on hold. :( :(

I'm pleased that you have jumped into airgunning at the young age of 65! :-* :-*
My last post in here with a number was 20 airguns, then I got a lot of 62 from Craigslist but 4 sold so that leaves 78 airguns in my house :), I should really thin that out a little more, they're all over the place... :)
Crosman Backpacker 2289 - .22

While browsing this thread I see even guys with lots and lots of guns don't own PCP's from brands like FX, AA, Weihrauch or so. What is the reason for that?
I currently own only 5 airguns but with these 5 I can do anything one can realistically expect from airguns. So I doubt I will buy any more at this stage, but you never know.
My list
1. Crosman 2240 .22
2. Crosman 1077 .177
3. Gamo PT-85 .177
4. FX Ranchero. .177 PCP. (Longer barrel and cylinder fitted, as well as a carbine wooden stock) My favourite gun of all.
5. Webley Axor .20 PCP (24.7 FPE)
I think you will find that this site caters to the tinkerer. Being that the Crosman 22xx platform lends to a relatively easy opportunity for not to awful much money, that a lot of the folks here tend to build their own HPA shooters. There sure have been some nice ones over the years!
I also am in the process of downsizing my collection, but will never stop building them. I just like it to much. That said, this is my current list as of today;
Pistols
1740 Pistol .177
2240 Stubby Pistol .22
357 Pistols (3x)
1861 Shiloh
2250 HPA (being built now)
Rifles
AF Edge Target Rifle .177
Benjamin Titan NP GP Rifle .22
Benjamin Trail NP Rifle .22
Model 114 Rifle .22
Model 140 Rifle .22
1077 (2x) Rifles .177
2250 Outdoorsman Carbine .177
66 PowerMaster
That makes sense arkmaker.
I might just get a second 2240 and see how far I can take it.
added this to my collection today....
now have 23 pistols...24 rifles

I suppose I should not think so harshly about a gun (QB57) that is less than $100 with case that works. The wood work is very rough looking... like it needs to be sanded and redone... especially in the slots on the fore. Very rough. Like lacquer covered splinters in there.
It is a really cool concept to un-thread it to break it down... or even to change calibers if you have both barrel assemblies, but it is not a tight fit at max hand tight (and I have more hand strength than most) without wiggling and canting as you turn that last 1/4 turn with all might available. The stock sights are somewhat crude. But for the money... I am saving it for a rainy season when I can go through it some.
Like the industry sights, a little cleaning up, refinishing and tweaking makes a lot of difference.
If I did not see any redeeming potential I would have already off-loaded it, but it may be a good project someday.
i have been seeing the 57's a bit lately
and here i thought you was talking about the side lever qb 78 breech :-[

Ya... that QB57 is a bit of a "kluge" looking contraption with the wood foregrip sitting as it does and the OEM wood leaves MUCH to be desired.
I had one of it's "cousins" the QB58 and it was rusty, sheet metal junk IMO and the trigger and sidelever were dangerous as hell >:(
I have quit buying cheap springers about two years ago, even if the guts can be fixed, the cosmetics are almost impossible to improve.

She likes to give me grief, but in the end is ok with my new hobby. But I did take the day off today and we both went shopping for stuff to put in the basement I recently finished. The plan was to pick up a dartboard and cabinet, and look at some bars. Well, we went home with dartboard items and put a deposit on a 92 inch bar and 4 stools. Although the plan was to "mill it over", but I think it will end up being a done deal... which should make everything good. Oh, and she had yet to see the Cabela's shooting bench I picked on Wed. :-*

Yes, the 1300 Medalist II works.
Actually, with the exception of the 622 in pieces at the right, and the unknown status of the 2 sealed 1377s, they all work.
Edit: The picture does not include my Daisies, Chinese break-barrels, and a couple recent Crosman additions. I just recounted, and I'm at 33, but there is a 2260 on order. (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/97301041/Misc/EyePatchSmileIcon.gif)

:D ;D that's soooo true, my collection went from 4 rifles and 3 pistols, to 16 rifles and 10 pistols after joining this forum!
Next up, the Winchester MP4 co2 rifle.. And the factory seal is just barely broken off the 2260 from two weeks ago :D ;) :)
Well i added 3 more to my list 2 116`s and last week a AS2250XT brings my total to 21 now
Jim
As of today I have 6 keepers, 2 in transit and 8 others for sale
Down to 3... for now ;D
I have 8 Crosman's alone. Then I have 10 additional airguns, not including my airsoft collection, which is another 10 guns on top of that. I also own 3 powder burners but they don't stay with me as they are with my Dad who lives in another state since he is a powder burner guy and uses them more than I would.
since my last count in late December I have added a 1322, 2300KT, 2 Crosman 600's, Mark I and a Vigilante.
now at 66
handguns - 42
rifles - 24
Looks like I'm still a lower level collector - 5 Pistols and 4 rifles. Hopefully to be adding another of each in the near future. Both CO2 Crosman's.

Alecto - 177
Alecto - 22

CR 600 in parts
1750 in parts
3050 in parts
Mentally exhaustive. It's either 23 or 26...depending on how you count ;D
I was thinking about this today also. I think that I have enough. When you start out, you don't think enough is enough. But, I just realized I have more than I can shoot. That is why I can't hit anything. I do not use one or two guns enough to get the feel of the trigger and the sights. So, this is enough. :P
:o Oh No !! Duck you know that you will see another one later and you'll just have to have it !! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I don't think so Tim. I was thinking of fixing some of my paper weights instead of buying more guns. I really need to get my 38T going. I have talked about it for far to long. I think the DW715 did it for me. Great gun, but too heavy a trigger. I could have spent that money on repairing some of my collection. Don't know, but going to try to not buy anymore. :P :-*
Mr. Duck , I've said the same thing !! Today I sent an oreder to Crosman for parts for a new build and spent $270.00 !! My wife is goin to kill me !! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Mister crossliner, if you are going to consider taking up archery then you might want to seriously consider mixing your airgun love with archery and build yourself a 2240 Arrow airgun. I've been thinking about one for a couple of years. And here is some information to wet you appetite.

Before you faded out, you had about 114. Show us your new guns. :)
My meager collection since last summer.

I make the bolt handles, front pivot pins and now the hollow bolts. I also polish the trigger groups. No internal mods yet.

My first attempt at a hollow bolt wasn't successful.

I also have a Discovery .22 and a Marauder in .25 cal. Got a Ruger Hawk springer, not a favorite though. I don't think I have an addiction? ???

Indeed it is. :)
I have the 7 listed and one more that I am building plus another that I am thinking about. :-* :-* :-*
Bloated to around 100 now. Yep, NEED to start thinning the herd.
:)
Airguns? 26 last count... or was it 27.... and one on the way.
My post on this topic a few years ago, and the reply following:

:)
I haven't been at it nearly as long as some of you. I have only a (mostly) stock Crosman 1322, and this highly customized gem of a 1322, with a dozen things that are not stock. [Edit: Got a .25 Marauder in Nov 2020, way more powerful.]
Crosman: 1377, 2240, 2289, T4, Nitro Venom, Pumpmaster 760
Hatsan: Supercharger 25 .177, 125TH, AT44 PA .25, AT44 Tact .25, Carnivore .357
Evanix: Rainstorm II .357
So, 12 ( little bit of everything: pumpers, CO2, break barrels, and PCP's)
I hover around 100.
Have about 60 give or take, give some away and buy some more. Always on look out for more orphans, crosmans 1322 or1377 and Beeman esp. Peashooterjoe
No way I could post this info my wife does occasionally check this forum she is a former IPSC shooter and a great shot at a running target :) :)
Hi guys!
Over 80 functionnals (don't know how much exactly), and a few in bits. I recently acquired an HPA compressor, so the count ''may'' go up :)
I've never thought about counting them ??? I suppose I should some time. I do have more airguns than powder burners.
I am reading through the old posts and I thought that I would revive an old thread. It has 15 pages of posts between 2013 and 2019.
I have 8, all pistols. Crosman: 2300t, 2x 2240 (one defective from Amazon and the other the warranty replacement from Crosman), 1377, an old 1008 from decades ago. Others: a Beeman P17, a Umarex Ruger MKII (7.5lb trigger pull) and an IZH-46 that I bought new in the mid-late '90s.
