Title: How many shots?
Post by: ceejay on January 14, 2012, 11:20:00 PM
This seems unusual to me - 80+ rounds per cartridge ! ! ! ! ? ? ?

Picked up a 357-6 from a 'junk' bin at a local gun show last weekend. With a bit 'o TLC got 'er working fine,
as far as I can tell. Shoots straight @ 400+ fps using Gamo Magnum 7.8gn pellets.
Spent the morning having fun with it, and it seemed to keep shooting forever. So for the next cartridge I
started counting. Couldn't believe it - didn't notice a drop in wallop until ~ 90 shots. So . . . . . .
Did it again this afternoon putting every 10th shot thru the crony. First shot on a new cartridge was 418fps.
Speed started to fall (weaker report) on the 8th mag and fell below 400fps on the 84th shot. Shots on each mag
were spaced 10-15 seconds, with a couple minutes between mags.

Also have a 357 from the mid '80's - it shoots around 360fps, but really don't think it does more than maybe
40 shots on a cartridge. Will check that later, but I do know this old one is louder - a LOT louder.  ???

On a progressive note - I got a lot better shooting two-stage while doing this test  :-*

....... OK - Not as bad as I thought, the original 357 actually did over 60 shots before falling below 350fps.
It must have propelled over 5000 pellets by now and the only maintenance since purchase has been the
end seal, a pair of quad seals, and an index finger.

I really like my 357's! Fun to shoot! I never did a shot count, but I know I can get about 5 clips without thinking about it.
