I have just acquired an old Crosman 1377.
It has no bolt, rather a shaped metal shroud that hugs the breech, one rotates and pulls it back to insert the pellet.
It also as a knob at the the back that when pulled back appears to engage the trigger, otherwise it won't fire.
I can't find a downloadable manual that's relevant to this old gun.
Just wanted to know if anyone could date it and confirm the “sequence to fireâ€.
I assume I pump it then pull the knob back or is it the other way round?
Replys / advice appreciated :)
Sounds like an old phase. 1377x is a leading authority on here for them IMHO! His name says so.... ;)
To find a diagram and parts list go here and scroll down till you find the modell number.
There's 3 versions/phases and it's not the current version/phase so it's one of two options there.

As far as I know yes, pump then cock and fire. I don't think it really matters which order, it's just safer that way. :)
the first variant ----> American Classic. Pneumatic, .177 cal., single shot. First variant w/manual cocking & sliding STEEL breech. 1977-1981.
the second variant ---> American Classic. Pneumatic, .177 cal. pellet/BB, single shot. Second variant with sliding PLASTIC breech. 1981-1998.
To date your gun, look at the serial number on the pump tube.
The first three/four digits is the month and year.
3 Digit Date Code
1st digit= month/ 2nd & 3rd digits= year
1 January 2 Februaury 3 March
4 April 5 May 6 June
7 July 8 August 9 September
4 Digit Date Code
1st & 2nd digits= month/ 2nd & 3rd digits= year
10 October; 11 November; 12 December
Here's a pic of my 1377 S#5965xxxxx. It was made during May (5) 1996 (96).
Useful info. Is that the same for all the Crosmans? Or specific to the 1377? :)

Thanks Eric.
Eric is correct. Dating crosman airgun by the serial number only works from 1975 to present.
Works for both pistols and rifles from 1975 to present.
In the year 1975 Crosman Corporation began to use a serial number system that can help you identify when your gun was made. Prior to 1975 our serial number system was limited only to warranty concerns.
In order to be more accurate, you can use the serial number as an indicator.
If your Crosman airgun was manufactured after July of 1975, the first three or four digits of the serial number indicate the month and year the gun was built. For example if the first three or four digits of the serial number were 1179 or N79 then your gun was manufactured in November of 1979.
Thanks for all the information :-*
Just tried it out and it shoots very well and nice and accurate.
From the serial number I have concluded its date is April 1978, so a real early one :)
Well, great sadness here as my newly found friend (my 1978 Crosman 1377) has died on me :(
Pump it but no air in the gun, pull the trigger …. nothing.
I have found some pictures on how to dismantle it and just ordered as many seals and o-rings as I can from TW Chambers, in readiness for the strip-down.
Any help or advice would be appreciated :)

did you oil it?
probably doesnt matter given the age
i would keep the brass valve inside and rebuild it
a new valve stem,2 o-rings and a new pump cup should do
i would probably get a current transferport sleeve and transfer port seal also
in those old 1377's they had a sleeve the same side on both sides.terrible leakers
the current tp sleeve's have a big side and small side making a better seal
you can get the parts directly from crosman
whether old or new the seals are the same
the valve stem will look different but it still works the same
you can add a steel breech/phase 3 plastic breech if desired along with the phase 3 barrel and bolt.
they also change out easlily no mods needed to do so

I have a 1377 Phase II with the curved front grip frame. Are 151-020 & 151-019 the correct grips? It has the two horizontal rail in the frame and metal 2 hole cover plate.? 1981-.........
Also what do you know about 132 Benji's? I need to reseal one. Thanks.

i have a phase 2 also
the only thing i noticed was on the 1399 stock
the phase 2 stock didnt fit on the phase 3 gripframe due to the mounting rail being shorter
not sure about the part numbers i never see them.i am lucky enough to have a local crosman shop that i take my guns to if it doesnt fit we find the part that does
i wont be able to do any physical research for another 2-3 weeks but someone else will chime in
thats whats so great about this forum there is help around every corner
now that i thought about it
i did put a set of phase 3 grips on my phase 2 grip frame(both have the metal side plate)
the 3 screw grips might be different

The front of the grip frame is curved? I think it is Phase II from what I have seen?
Page 3 is what it looks like, but straight grips don't fit: http://www.crosman.com/pdf/manuals/crosman/1377/C1377-EVP-1&2.pdf (http://www.crosman.com/pdf/manuals/crosman/1377/C1377-EVP-1&2.pdf)

I have two newer 3-screw trigger frames and one older 2-screw trigger frame. All of the Crosman plastic grips and shoulder stocks I have fit all of them. I have tried both black and green shoulder stocks, Both black and green "checkered" plastic grips, and a set of black grips with only a crosman "C" logo from a 1701. They all fit both frames.
Cheers,
Jerry
see if you order from crosman you will get phase 3 1399 stocks.they fit everything even the phase 1 gripframe with some wiggle!
i came across a phase 2 1399 stock. they dont the phase 3 grip frames due to the mounting rail being shorter.the 2 nipples on the gripframe plate interferes with the mounting!
