Title: SSP-250 on the way
Post by: dicktracey on January 25, 2012, 05:04:55 AM
Purchased a Crosman SSP-250 today with .177 barrel and .22 barrel.  Can't wait untill it arrives.  Might have to look for a .20 barrel and make it complete.  Pictures to follow.

Hope you enjoy yours as much I enjoy mine.  It is a real good shooter in either of the three calibers.

American Airguns Clasified link off of yellow clasifieds.
I may have found the .20 cal brass barrel and a scope still new in box.  Still waiting on response from owner.

Just after you posted this gun, one came up on UK classifieds named as a Crosman Silhouette .177 for a low £45  :o (Low to me!)

Unfortunately it was a shop advert based in the middle of nowhere and they aren't allowed to send guns through the post.  :(

It'll probably stay in the middle of nowhere forever now... shame. For now I'll oogle at yours.   :D

OK here we go.

I don't think the rear sight is the stock one.  Not sure what it came from.

If this doesn't scare you

Then this might

So far it is holding CO2. Shoots well and is hitting what I am aiming at.  Can't get much better.

The guy I bought the gun from sent me an email from another man that had the .20 brass insert barrel and the scope new.  When talking to him it appears that he also had the hood for the front sight.  Needless to say those parts are on the way to me.  It looks like total invested is $130.00 plus shipping.  Not to bad a deal.  Only concern is I might be missing the loader for .20 caliber.  The rear sight may need to be opened up a little but I probably will put a red dot on it, easier on the eyes.  I wa hitting an empty co2 cartridge at about 60 ft. This morning.

The rear sight appears to be an Industry Brand site. Just bought one from Archer Airguns a few weeks back. Have not mounted it yet, but it will do nicely as your shooting empty canisters at 60 feet prove!!

I haven't taken it apart yet, but externally it is really clean.  The grips turned out to be 1377 grips.  Found that out when wanting to see how this stock looked.

Might have to find the fore stock.
The rear sight was from stock 1377 that had a steel breech installed.

The scope and .20 cal barrel came today.  As I feared I am missing the .20 loader.  Does anybody know what color it was.  I suspect it was gray but just a guess.  Has anybody made one of these?  Pictures tomorrow.

A little blueing and it looks good as new :-*
What year was this SSP build in acc. to the serial number? Does it come with the hi/low power option?

Yes it has the dual power notches on it.  The ser number starts with 494 so I imagine it is early production given August 1990 started with 890000000.
