Ok, this if the first time I've actually needed to charge it up but it keeps all leaking back out...
I connect up the hose from the dive bottle, open the valve, up goes the pressure on both the bottle and the P-rods gauge, I open the bleed valve and it all leaks back out. I can't disconnect the hose until it gets back down to into the red zone meaning almost NO pressure. I tried it 3 times and the same result. I've filled PCP's before and never struck this... What am I doing wrong...???

I've heard of valves getting stuck before and decided to try the only method I know of "unsticking them"... I picked up quite a solid screwdriver and gave the nipple a series of small meaningful taps then connected it all up again and charged up to 1000psi. I'm not sure but I think it might have began to empty out again when I tried to bleed it so I gave another burst of taps while connected. Re-opened the bleed valve and it hissed away. I was just about to start cursing when the hissing stopped but the gauge stayed on 1000psi, charged it up to 1500psi, bled, charged it to 2000psi, bled, so topped it of at 2700-2800, bled it and all seems ok...
A lesson learned...

Do you always stop to bleed the valve when you fill it? Or was that just to see if it was still holding the air in?

You would have to Bleed the value
after filling to remove the foster fitting/fill hose from the nipple.
Not sure if that was what you were referring to?

That's what I did. Filled her up then bled off the excess gas before trying to disconnect. When I stated that the gauge stayed at xxxx psi, I meant the gauge on the P-rod of course and not the gauge on the yoke fitting. Heck, if I saw the yoke gauge at 1000+ psi, I don't think I'd ever try disconnecting. I saw a demo video on what could happen if you DID. The hose went flying around like a Cobra snake on steroids. Lord help anybody with a hand near that hose...

I would order a new fill nipple now, if I were you!! That sticking shut off is gonna come back to haunt you.

Arkmaker is correct, the valve is sticking open and periodicaly closes properly. The valve will stick at a time when you really need it to function right, Very cheap to replace, your best fix.
You're both probably dead right... Even though it will take some time to get in, I guess (being halfway around the world), better to know and fix than to run the gauntlet.
