Title: Question?
Post by: 728b on June 29, 2012, 09:03:43 PM
Forgive me if this is a dumb question.

I see over many threads here and on other sites that most are looking for ~70 degree days for their Co2 guns. Where I live we will have 95 to 110 for the next 2 months. I'm still waiting for the 2400 to arrive.

Is there any danger of a blow up when the temps get so high?

Thanks in advance.

you might get valve lock and really low velocities for an "X"  ???  number of shots but blowing up --- no

+1 to Eric's comment, co2 is a liquid that becomes a gas as it moves and expands. 80 to 90 deg F is about max efficiency operating temperature, after that, the liquid wnats to "boil" faster and becomes more of a refrigerant, or as Eric said "valve lockup".

The co2 will almost always be at 800 to 900 psi up until it sees much higher temps, e.g. 130 deg F or more which, other than the blacktop in Phoenix in August  :D , I doubt that you will ever experience.

PS, it's still not a good idea to leave co2 in a hot car or trunk of the car, especially the larger bottles like the 20 ounce or larger. They do have an over-pressure burst disc in them but, the valve is wasted after that.
