hip, hip, hooray! Last Friday I ordered one of these from Michael:
http://www.network54.com/Forum/79574/message/1345472553/13xx+Barrel+Bands+-+Same+Day+Shipping (http://www.network54.com/Forum/79574/message/1345472553/13xx+Barrel+Bands+-+Same+Day+Shipping)
He shipped it from Pennsylvania on Saturday, and the post office delivered it TODAY!
Talk about customer service! Fit and finish are impeccable. Well packaged and included instructions for installing the included pivot pin.
I admit, I was hesitant to spend the $48, but I couldn't be happier now that I have it in my hands! Now I'm just waiting for that TKO barrel and muzzle brake to arrive and I should be good to go. :-*
The barrel bands are fine. Just a tip for you, put Loctite on the set screw threads. They work loose, particularly on a 1377, and the pivot pin may start moving on you. The one for the barrel is under less stress, but it can work loose, too.
No pics means it never happened ;) We will need a pic or two once that TKO get there!!!!! :-*
One other tip...and this could just be the way I pump...on the upstroke (pulling the pump arm outward) be careful not to let the pump arm linkage slam into the barrel band. The steel linkage will mark up the aluminum band pretty bad. Don't pump like a gorilla like I used to.
I'll see if I can post a pic later.
I love Mike's BBs he needs to make them for the 22XX guns OMG i would buy one of each color.
Mike
congrats!
nice accessory you are adding to the gun!
They really do look good and so well engineered too :-*.I hope he starts a range of barrel bands for the 2240 as well!
you guys should email him asking him to work something up for the 22xx models. does he frequent this forum and know of the demand?

I hear ya. ;)
Chavka makes good stuff and... he has helped me with a fw problems where parts did not fit and needed to go back and he took care of it immedaitely (not bad parts, just wrong fit up)
I can only say good things about Mike's work, ethics and kindness.
(Plus he's a Marine). What more needs to be said. :-*

No way, did not know that...Semper Fi to Mike
Thanks partly to this post and several others i ordered a sighted band in t6 last night.
I contacted another parts maker about his but he never returned any of my emails. My feeling is if he doesn't have time to respond to a sales request I have to wonder if and when i'd get a barrel band.
Aaah... you are learning the ways of the airgun parts makers young grass-hopper, soon the student will become the teacher! :D ;D
you will NOT be disappointed with Michael's barrel band. You'll probably get it soon! :-*
Got one for my 1377 also. They are very nice.
My 1322 with Mike's BB.
Does he have a web site? I can't get the yellow registration to work...
I have the original Blue Fork band. You can order from HPASports;

look at the pic iirc the name on the left you want to click on but click on both just to be sure
take arkmakers advice get the bfd
I'm with ED, the BFD band looks better and you have local support right here on the forum. The machinist, Greg is a member here ;)
The new bluefork ones have his fork logo on the front. They look real nice!
I too like the bluefork bands especially the new style. The shape just looks so much better than any other out there right now.
Thanks guys,.. Who makes a wire stock that's nice in blued?

Wire stocks are harder to find than ever. The last two Isaw were from Greg at Bluefork (posted a photo on the forum somewhere) and Michael Chavka. I would contact wither of them to see if they could make one for you.
I've got the bluefork wire stock too. It is annodized black though. Nice wire stock too and Greg is a top notch guy. I'm using it with a Crosman steel breech and the adapter that came with it wouldn't work. Contacted Greg and he made me a new one a.s.a.p..

Do you have a budget in mind? This is something I can do. Would be rust blued...cold blue is garbage IMO.

can you make one that can double as a rear cocker?
actually
one that can be adapted to my rear cocking hammer assembly?

Can I see a pick of that one ? Anodized might be nice.
Budget... Lol if I had a budget I wouldn't be in this hobby at all ;)
HPSports has my new bands for sale. I just took over some more today.
I still have some wire stocks still for sale for the 13xx or 22xx models.
On a side note the bands that Chavka sells are a copy of my old style band. I won't agree with you on him being a standup guy...........

that would be expected --- there are a few out there that like to make $ off of others ideas but that is to be expected as well

Greg, I am unclear about who really made the first commercially-available replacement barrel bands. Chavka was certainly not first. If you ask Stace, he did. Probably a discussion for another thread and another time.

Would be a bit different for sure. :)
Could be a collar that gets gripped and pulled back, or a bolt handle out the side of the mount. Collar would be my preference...maybe make it "T" shaped for easy cocking with heavier springs???
Mount piece would be long, but do-able. Would mean making the hammer mechanism as well.

hmmm!
so my existing rear cocking hammers wouldn't work ???
since I use extremely heavy hammer springs to push my 115 gram hammer the collar sounds better

Many ways to skin any cat Ed...I've no idea how your rear cocking hammers are put together. Similar to phase 1 and 2 or do the rod and cocking knob travel with the striker.. contributing to the total mass?
How about a nice pic of just the striker bits?

Al... any news on your Hi-press/brake-slave unit for PCP filling?

Al... any news on your Hi-press/brake-slave unit for PCP filling?
Feeding it from my regulated N2 setup, and filling my AT44 (regular tube) "Start" pressure is the same as the supply pressure...bleeds through the checks until pressure balances in the system.
1000psi 12 strokes to 200bar
1500psi...6 strokes to 200bar
Topped up the 1701P from 1500psi to 3000psi in 4 strokes feeding 500psi.
Can fill feeding 100psi, but takes quite a while. Received and installed a sleeve valve for actuation...HUGE improvement. Looking for an electric solenoid valve and will build a timer circuit for it...this will automate the pump, but will require electricity.
Need to put an AC compressor together with an empty co2 fire extinguisher....handy and cheap source of 500psi air. ;)
Received some 90D Urethane o-rings to replace the buna...have not torn it down yet to swap them out as it's still working great. :)

Progress... that's what matters. As Einstein is reported to have said to a "suit" in the R&D dept.,
"if we knew what were doing, we wouldn't call it R&D" :D
