The Crosman Backpacker carbine is actually a pistol with a skeleton shoulder stock. Pump it up to 10 times to get the most bang for your buck! The Backpacker is compact, convenient and quite accurate. What a great time to bring back this gun (it's been gone from airgunning for several years) along with a bugout bag. There's enough room in this bug out bag to add some food (such as beef jerky) and other essentials you'll need when the time comes to grab you stuff and go.
Alright now, don't everybody buy them all up! I'm broke till payday ;D
That's pretty cool! and you figure only $90 after the ever present 10% off coupon.
Ya but add back in the $12 + to ship it.
The pics make all the plastic look black but... the orig 2289 was that ugly green plastic back in the day, sure hope they didn't revive that 70's throwback color! :D

I don't know, I looked up the "backpacker" and I found out that the Crosman 2289 was discontinued. It looks like it had a 14" barrel.

The new one has a 12" barrel. I went to Crosmans website and found nothing. We will have to wait and see.
Doomsday, huh? Nice pellet gun and all, but for the real deal I suggest some knock down and stay down equipment. Just sayin'...
its for small game hunting.there is only so much ammo.with a 1377 keep the seals wet it will last you 20+ years without changing the seals
wheel weights fishing weights you can find them and make a crude pellet
Yes, the stock is easily removed with the push of the stock detent pin.
However, the stock will have a slight wiggle to the left and right.
Who ever has one ordered:
After you get it, call Crosman and tell them a plastic part is broken and you need to order a new part. Hopefully they will email you a EVP/PL so you can post it here.
We need the part number for the forearm! :-* ;D
i'd love to get one of those over here in the UK
Love the big pump arm.
Mike
The back packer.
It figures Mike would already have one. Is that the 2289? If it is, it has a longer barrel on it than the new Backpacker.

Yes mudduck this is the old backpaker. Cool little shooter you need to get use to the stock it has a very loose fit. I have used in the woods and it will take a tree rat no problem.

Mike that one looks like the 1389 is that .177?

Yes it's .177 she shoots pretty hard.
The Backpacker is for tree rats and rabbits and the knife is for bears!

RC I knew the blade would catch your eye. I had it custom made for me in 1981 did you ever hear of Bob Sky knives.
Mike
I think I like the knife more than the backpacker Mike! That knife is cool!!!

Ya... if you can believe Chip H. at Crosman, each time I have commented on Facebook about Custom Shop 13XXs and pumpers, he just says "stand by, good things are coming"
I have to believe that the 2289 and maybe... a 1389 will be back in the lineup and just maybe, 13XX guns in the CS lineup? ??? :D
I saw that on PA myself last night didn't pull the trigger on one yet just got the 1322 would be cool though just for the pumparm and 12" barrel talking myself into this the more I type.

yeah im liking the 12" barrel too.
I like, but when will the parts be available to order from customer service. I have a 14.5" bbl, but if I added a brake, it would start getting long for a carbine. The 12" from this backpacker sounds like a good deal and would save me from being an amateur gunsmith with a hacksaw.
If it's anything like the M4-177, for which I think folks might still be having trouble ordering parts if they don't have the numbers then it'll take a while. ??? As it stands, I think the price is too high for just the gun. I can get a refurb 1377, a barrel, and a stock for around $60. But... that's just mho.
Oh yeah, and Crosman, I think everyone would be happy if you brought back brass valves like I hear Benjis are getting again. Stay classy Crosman. :-*
Seems these kind of "kits" turn out to be quite collectible over time though.
I preordered one but I am hopeful this means the backpacker parts will remain available to continue
to build 13xxs with some nice pump arms etc. not to mention 12" barrels.
I have a 1322 Medalist just perfect for a factory 12 incher and a nice tko. :-*
