Title: Crosman Pistol Wall Displays
Post by: Davio on October 26, 2012, 08:29:29 AM
I started a thread asking where everybody keeps their guns.  I was looking for ideas.  I have looked all over creation for something and most pistol holding things are either for safes or shelves or display cabinets like at the gun shop.  I saw one rotary / lazy susan contraption, but they have stopped making it.  It would not have held these pistols anyway.  Not sized right.

Nothing I found was exactly what I was after. At that time, I had one in the padded box it came in (the 2400), one 2300KT on a bench rest sitting on a table in the den, one on a table in my shop, and one in a drawer.  What I wanted was something to display them, up higher than grandkids' reach, not behind glass or in a safe... I want to be able to grab any one or more of them and go shoot without a lot of hassle, then put it back when I'm done.

For the pistols, they just really are top heavy even without a red dot or a scope, so aside from looking strange for the first day or so I found that they hang easiest upside down AND turned with the bolt handle side facing out.

So, this is what I came up with.  It does what I wanted it to do and now these three have a resting place.

Yes, I am able to manipulate dead trees into various and sundry items at will.  ;)

I saw those, but doubt they'd work well with our different lengths and scopes and all.

If I get too many, maybe a sick windchime would hold a bunch.  ;D

I like the concept, very cool. So what I'm looking at is sort of a picture frame with an integral pistol mount?

I would like them better if the gius were not upside down and only one gun in each just wont cut it for me I would like to see something like that but about 4'x3' so more guns would fit in the framed wood. Don't get me wrong It dose look nice and I like the idea.

The first iteration was for all three (see pic below), but little nagging things like overall size differences of the guns, the footprint and hang angle being different for each was messing with my head.

I bet I arranged and re-arranged those three guns 20 time or more (side to side, staggered, up and down, etc.).  :o

Turning them around gets into the top heavy business... needing a second support, not wanting to "unlatch anything" to grab a gun..  and the real possibility of them falling. Hanging upside down, the little turned stobs I made are fatter on the outside edge and they will not come off unless you take it off.

Each of the three are also pre-drilled for mounting to studs 16" on center with long but small square drive-headed stair finishing screws that can't be seen.

I like these and very good idea. It would be nice if they sat upright but can totally see why it would work that way. You explained it well.

That is a very 'Martha Stewart' solution. Seems like everytime you do a mod, the case/display you are using no longer is large enough.

Don't think for a minute that SWMBO didn't have a say about the foo foo ness of this project.  I narrowed it down to three on a solo visit, then took her down there and let her "choose".   ;)  Translated to the language of my household: That means since she picked it out, it will be just fine to hang on the wall.  If I had chosen the SAME ONE and brought it home, it would NEVER happen.

Am I surprised that crosshairs suggested a 48" x 36" ?   ;) How many guns does he have again?   :-*

127 I believe.Very nice work Davio I like the way they hang when you reach for them you don't have to get behind them and chance knocking them off.

Sure beats a velvet Elvis.  I like the idea, and a nice job making it happen. RC
