I never had a BB gun or a pellet gun as a child. I shot many with friends that had them, but never one of my own. I got a Mossburg bolt action .22 LR at the age of 12 and then a 12 gauge shotgun the following year. I just somehow skipped over that part of male youth. I shot many with friends that had them, but never one of my own. Then earlier this year my first two guns were Custom shop and the third and fourth I built from scratch.
In other words, what I'm getting around to is this: I had no idea what the plastic breeches and the sights were like on the 2240, the 1322 or even the 760 Pumpmaster. By the way, that 760 is far removed from the late 60's wood and metal version of itself, but amazing for $20.
But the biggest discovery (no pun intended) for me was to see that the standard rear sight on the 2240 comes with the notch up for sighting, but 180 degrees below that is a hole that (with the removal of the screw and then to spin it upward) gives a dioptic peephole view. Not only that, but the hole is small (as opposed to the notch and blade being HUGE... as is the MIM).
Have any of you used that instead of the notch on a bone stock 2240?
you noticed that huh?
brutuz told me about that a couple of years ago or else i would have still been wondering what that little hole in the sight blade was
i think the manual mentions turning the notch into a peep

At first I thought it was a squirrel call. But after I blew on it awhile, I gave up and figured it was something else. THEN I cleaned the spit off the plastic breech. ;D
