2300s question

I have seen a black trigger... and a brass trigger on the 2300s - is there a difference in the trigger mechanism (and/or any other part of the gun) between the two... or are they the same gun just different colored triggers?

The older triggers were brass.  I do not know when they changed.  The new ones are painted black.  A magnet does not stick to them and they are not heavy enough to be stainless steel.  I think they are aluminum alloy but I haven't done enough to them to see how they cut or drill.  Someone that has worked them can chime in here.

Yep they`re some kind of aluminum alloy i tried to order the brass ones on the phone but was told they don`t carry them any more it must of happened recently because one of my guns came with a brass trigger think it was the 1377 triggers on my 2240 mod now

The "black" trigger is made from an alloy similar to what the trigger frame is made from. You can drill, file, sand, and polish it with ease. It will dull/tarnish rather quickly. There is also a "brass colored" trigger (I've heard of it but never had one), same type of alloy. The solid brass triggers are kind of rare but can be found on places like ebay and go for some crazy prices.

My 2300s came with a silver finished trigger which is the new trigger just finished differently.  There is a difference in the triggers between the 2-screw and 3-screw trigger frames.  Some of the older 2-screw trigger frame triggers will not work in the newer trigger frames.

The 2300 also uses a lighter hammer spring (than the 2240) and I think it has the valve reducer installed, but you will need to have this confirmed by someone who actually has a 2300.


The 2300 also comes with a steel breech, upgraded rear site and muzzle brake and I think it even has the LW 10" barrel.

Yepper, 2300s comes with a reduce volume valve by the brass sleeve Crosman inserts in the valve.  It also comes with the Crosman RVA (Rear Velocity Adjuster) for maximizing your shot count.

2300s also does come with the LW barrel where the 2300t comes with a Crosman barrel.

The brass sleeve is shown between the Pro-Top and the valve body.

When a 2300 is purchased from the custom shop, does it contain valve 2300-122 or 2250-003 ?  I have never taken a valve apart as they are very hard to unscrew.

Both the 2300s and 2300t come with the reduced volume valve, 2300-122. All others come with the regular valve, 2250-003.

I assume that the Crosman Custom Shop sells neither the 2300s (silhouette) nor the 2300t (target) version.  Is that correct?
Both of my Custom Shop guns came as a 2300KT with the 2250-003 valve.  NOT the 2300-123 valve with the 2300-037 volume-reducing spacer.
My first one was a 10" .22 cal and it got around 42 good shots before the POI fell off.  I have it to a 12" barrel and haven't shot it enough to know if the shot count will change.
I installed a spacer in the other one that has a 10" .177 LW barrel and the shot count is near 70.  I use it for paper only.  I meant to see how many shots I got per cart before the spacer install but I was checking the size of the spacer and seeing how well it fit in the valve because I wanted to see if I could make one for a 1377 valve but when i put it in the 2250-003 valve, I couldn't get it out without damaging it so I left it in.  As a result, I don't know how many shots I would have gotten without the spacer.

The 2300s and 2300t have valve assembly 2300-122 not 2200-123.  Not sure where that number, 2300-123, came from other than the post by 7624452 which had the wrong number for the valve.
