here's an easy way to test for leaks in the breech area.  it can test for leaks in the bolt seal & transfer port seal & alignment.  it can also give you an idea on how good the probe is seating the pellet.

  1) get a piece  of 1/4" plastic tubing, the one for a refrigerator ice maker.
  2) heat till slightly soft, then pull to stretch it.  what you're looking for is the tube forming a cone that will fit into the barrel.  then trim the excess.
  3) insert the cone into the end of the barrel  & blow into the tube.  with a good seal, no air should be leaking from the breech area.
load a pellet & unlock the bolt.  blow into the tube & this will give you an idea of the pellet seating.  air leaking...bad.  no air leaking..good.

i tried this on my new 2100b & it leaks big time.  well another project.....

Interesting concept,99. Baby powder or flour is quicker for me.

That is actually a good idea.  :)
Can learn a couple of things there  :-*
Now to find some tubing.

Nifty idea. Not as messy as the powders but how affective?

i figured this test will catch the obvious leaks.  the powder or flour can catch the high pressure leaks.

an example....
on my 1377 with the stock bolt--
bolt locked no pellet, no air leaking.
bolt lock with pellet, no air leaking.
bolt not locket after seating pellet,  plenty leaking.  on closer examination through the breech, i see that the pellet is only half way past the transfer port.   oh well another thing to mod,  a bolt with a longer probe.

Now you are catching on to why the to-do list just keeps getting longer and longer.  :)
