Benjamin Trail NP pistol. I voided my warranty today and got this thing shooting better. It shot too low, so I cut the sight down 5mm. It shoots all over the place, so I drilled out the muzzle to 1/2" and beveled the hole with my RCBS case bevel and deburing tool.  Now I have the rear sight all the way back and all the way down and it is shooting better than it ever did. The target was shot resting on the back of a chair at 5m. I'm happy. Now some more fine tuning and it just might work. I still have to put it on the bench and try to sight it in more. I think I'm on to something that just might work.
We need to keep going and have fun doing it.

I'm working on it. This gun just pi--- me off how bad it was. I got to thinking about my Beeman P17. The barrel does not go to the end, but there is a big hole to make it look like a 38 barrel. Drill out the muzzle to 1/2". I took and taped a small piece of wood dowel on the top of the sight and it shot lower with the rear sight all the way up, so, cut off the sight 5mm and it worked. More fine tuning on the sights. Then the trigger.
We need to keep going and have fun doing it.

Nice Duck... and from that muzzle pic detail, she could use some polishing on the crown too?

Kudos for not tossing this pistol in the trash, Crosman sure didn't get their homework done on this thing did they?

I don't know if this goes for all break barrels but are they not hold sensitive?
try some different holds that may help ???

It's blowing crazy hard here and no way to try this. My brain is saying it would work ??  How about moving the rear sight forward. would that not raise the front when you take a sight picture ? I've been sitting here with a straight edge and 2 blocks of wood and my brain says yes when I slide the rear block forward. Driving me nuts.

OK, move the rear sight forward. After about 10 shots it will have moved back about 1/2". BigErn even bought a real good scope mount base and it moved. The rear sight will not move if you slide it back as far as it will go.  Raise it up as far as it will go, give full front sight where the fiber optic is and you will still shoot low at 5m, I know I have tried it.

Didn't think the stock rear sight had enough mass to it to move. I'm going to tighten the bejeeze out of it and give it a try. Nothing to lose on this turkey at this point. I emailed customer supp/tech and got what I thot I would for a reply  :)

most spring guns are hold sensitive as ed pointed out
has the cylinder got any arrestor block holes? if the sight works better all the way forward can you drill a hole and tap it so a grub screw can be used to stop the sight creeping rearwards with the recoil
i've had to do this in the past with springers

I'm no expert on these Gas Rams or Nitro Pistons except that I have owned (past tense) a couple of them and... they have a definite "SNAP" to the recoil that is instantaneous compared to the slower metal springs which have the pronounced double recoil.

This Trail pistol seems to be the RWS/Diana 52 of pistols! For those who might not know, the Diana 52 rifle is a notorious scope killer and sight mover along with stock screw shaker and otherwise self-destructive mechanism. Some model 52s have actually sheared off the scope base that is riveted and spot-welded to the tube.  :D

Well, I braved the wind. The theory works. It's a minute of beer can now every shot, which is 100% better. I think you guys are correct tho. Without a post on the rear, it won't last. Hard to tell so far, but I think it's creeping to the rear after 10. What a pos. Looks like a 55 gal drum target campfire gun for $75. Sad.

Then the trigger.
If the this gun has a simple "trigger train" the Browning 800 has, I might be ble to offer some suggestions. Please post some pics when you get it tore down for the trigger work
