Because you have probably close to 200 other guns that you can mess with/mod. And you basically know that the 2289 is a pretty good shooter out of the box. I would maybe shim the pump arm just to say you did Something to it.  :-*
You crack me up BaltimOre28 even the wife laughed at this one.  Then said really ;D

Now,now, no trigger job, it won't be "bone stock" if you do a trigger job. My sons 2298G came with a really nice trigger on it. Did not do anything to it and shoots really well.
We need to keep going and have fun doing it.

I'm new to air pistols, so I don't mind sounding ignorant.  Why would Hogrider want to compress the trigger spring making it basically a heavier spring?  A heavier trigger pull would make it harder to shoot accurately.

Compressing the spring actually makes it lighter/shorter and lightens the trigger pull. I prefer a thinner spring from Ace Hardware myself. They're 50 cents or so.

Tater's got it right. I just put the spring on a philips screwdriver and compressed it as much as I could, stuck an empty .22 casing in the top and got a trigger I was extremely happy with. Both my 2289 and 1377 worked so well I didn't even try to find a lighter spring. Picked up all this info on this forum. What a great place to hang out.  :-*
