USMA-1982

I had ordered a Daisy globe front sight from PA to see if it would work on an old Marksman 1790 Biathalon Trainer that came with an enormous fiber optic front sight.  I had assumed the brake in the photo was just to illustrate how the globe mounts onto the dovetail.  Imagine my surprise when it arrived yesterday and I discovered the brake is included!  It's 3 1/2" long by 15/16" OD and 7/16" ID.  It fits just a tad loose on a Crosman barrel, but it comes with two set screws on the bottom and it's drilled and tapped for a third set screw on top under the globe sight.  It's steel, so it does add some heft especially if you shoot pistol one hand unsupported.  Not sure it will do much to reduce report, but sure does look cool.  Rather than putting it on the Marksman I think I'll use it on a 2260 I'm building from scratch.

That not only looks cool, but does open up some possibilities for Crosman guns. What rear sight will you use on the 2260?

Daisy Avanti Precision Diopter - DY5996 - that I found pretty cheap on EBay.  I had already replaced the rear sight on the M1790 with this one, and wanted the matching front sight.  But the sights are now way better than the rifle so thinking of switching both to the 2260 custom that I'm starting work on.

Both of those sights are very nice!

Funny, I just ordered these for my Avanti 853. I'm upgrading to the 753 target sights, and bought the additional diopter insert set and a spare trigger assembly. This will effectively make it a 753, since my particular 853 has the target (753) stock. The 853 has downgraded sights with a fixed front diopter on the muzzle weight.

Really looking forward to the new sights!

Btw. The 3rd screw is to attach a blade sight, as this muzzle weight is used on the 953 Powerline model as well as the 753 model. If anyone is interested, I can supply the PNs so you can order from Daisy. Much cheaper than from PA.

Also, if your rear sight has some slop in the adjustment, I found a guide for tightening up the mechanism.

HI, would you please post the P/N for the Daisy site/muzzle brake.
Thanks,

JMJ - thanks for the info and PNs. I'm going to order the inserts. Do you have. PN for the front sight blade as well?

Sorry - no info on the 953 sight blade, but customer service folks at Daisy should know the PN.

Here's a link to the Avanti part # sheet - prices are still relevant:

Excellent prices - do you have to be a club to get those prices or do they care?

Good question USMA, if so, "I" just became a club :D

Not for parts, as far as I know.  The part/accessory pricing on the right side corresponds to the pricing I got over the phone.  I think only stuff on the left of the price sheet is "club pricing", with the same membership requirements as CMP.

FYI. I checked on my order today and the rear sights will be in the 1st week of July.

Pretty long wait time.  Almost as long as Crosman ;-)

FYI - I got my Avanti front & rear sights in last week. The rear sight is large & heavy, clicks seem crisp. I won't know until I shoot the box if there's much slop, but it should be better than the current sight. I ordered a range of front diopter inserts, so I'll be experimenting over the next few months.
