not a break barrel so being double recoil proof isn't necessary . i definitely want side turret parallax adjustment and mil-dot would be nice and i'm wanting variable power in something with a 16x to 24x power capability . and it needs to focus down to 10 yards or less on it's lower power and 20 yards or less on it's highest . and of course i want a reasonably clear view through it ......

i've found 4 scopes that i'm interested in and would appreciate y'alls input on a few questions .

first up is the Simmons 6-18x40 ProHunter , about $80 shipped . no mil-dot but looks to be a real bargain possibly .

next is a pair of Simmons .44 MAG series scopes . both with mil-dot , side AO and 6x-21x and 6x-24x power . and at the top of my price range .

and last , but not least . the Weaver Kaspa Dual-X, Ballistic-X Military Scopes - 4-16x44SF .

id appreciate comments on the quality of the view through these scopes and how close they focus down to at their minimum and maximum powers . individual comments are welcome since i doubt many folks have used them all , comparisons from folks who may have use 2 or more of them are very welcome also . i've looked at leapers/utg , hawke and centerpoint , but since i don't use a springer i thought i'd look at some better glass/polycarbonate as a alternative.

thanks

mil dots really arent necessary. i just read something about the 30/30 duplex being comparable to mil dots in range finding
6-24 sounds like a little much for an air gun
optic planet should at least show you the correct pictured scope on their site. on amazon the op ad shows the correct scope for less on amazon

I got one of these. Very nice scopes. Bottom link is where i got mine from. If those are too much for the wallet the leapersscopes are hard to beat bang for the buck. I have several and their 4-16x40 ao mildot scopes are nice. And can be had for $75

do you have the 4-16 or 6-24 varmint ? can you tell me the number of yards it will clearly focus down to on 4x/6x , 10x , 16x and 24x please ? i've asked in other threads/forums and can't seem to get a answer :( . i know it's rated down to 15 yards , but i don't know if thats at minimum or maximum power . i'm hoping it's maximum and that it will focus down to at least 10x at 8 yards . i've got a long hallway that leads int the kitchen that 28 ft long i can use indoors if i want/need to .
i guess i'm one of the aim small miss small fanboys . LOL  :-* .

I believe the lowest range rating for the scopes are across the board as far as the magnification goes.  MY 3-9X40 Leapers minimum is 5 yards and it'll zoom up or down at the minimum with no problem.

I have the 4-16. I know it will focus the 16x at 10 yds and is crystal clear out to 100 yds. Ill range out some targets and go through the mags to see how high i can go at 10 yds to 100 and let u know.

Alrighty! First i miss spoke i have the 3-12 varmint scope. All my others are 4-16. This scope will focus down to 9 yards and stay clear enough to read the numbers on the bar code of my wifes suave deodorant can which is a 6 oz can. The numbers are smaller than 1/8 inch so thats pretty impressive. My avg range is 24 yards which is from my kitchen table out the window to the fence andis clear as a bell. I have actually hit a peanut on a tooth pick at that range. I reall like the 1/2 mil reticle cause it gives more aimpoints for fine adjustments. The side focus wheel has 10 yds but will still turn slightly past that and allows it to focus down to 9 yards. The numbers on the side wheel are actually very close to the range the scope will actually focus at. As for how far it will focus as far as i can see from my 2nd story windows. That farthest house is about 1/2 mile and uou can count the ridge vents. At 100 yds and 12 x you can still count the number of slides in the window blinds. I am kind of impressed now. Never sat down to really check all this before. Think i might do this with most of my scopes. Hope the info helps and let me know if theres anything else i can do.
